Hi all, new to the site and to owning a dogue de bordeaux but not to owning other breeds of dogs.

My puppy is a male 14 week old who we've had for just over a week now. I just wanted to ask some advice etc and talk about how he's been.

So first thing we've noticed is that he's lazy, I mean really lazy to the point we were thinking something was wrong with him. He'll come out of his crate and play with our other dog who is an English bulldog and then sleep for hours and hours. He's fully toilet trained to use puppy pads and is getting used to his name and the sit command, although he's very stubborn with giving you his paw etc for treats. He eats and drinks fine also.

He seems very docile and when our front door knocks its our older bulldog who barks etc, our puppy who is meant to be this fearless guardian of the house simply stares etc lol. Is this because he's so young? And is everytbing else what ive told you normal behaviour based on the breed and age? Will this change as he ages in terms of being more active, protective etc?

Any questions for me please ask, keen to hear your responses!

Welcome to the forum.
Your pup is so young, hes not going to be properly adjusted to hs new surrounding and routines, hes left his puppy mates, hes going to sleep a lot, especially on groth spirts.
His gaurding will come natural to him, not yet, you will have fear stages with him.
I suggest you do research an a mastiffs stages.
He needs socialising with the outside world, you need to form a good bond with him, and training is a must, time and patience,

Hi all, I collect my new ddb whatpuppy this Tuesday, however I've been told so many different feeding ways, raw only, dog foods and raw dry mix. I just want the best for her and her health. What do you recommend? Please help
