I have not posted in awhile and Apollo is 2 now. He Sheds a ton! From what I had read before making my decision to purchase a DDB, they don't shed or not much, maybe 2 times a year.Apollo seems to shed all year round and I am not sure what to do or if there is anything I can do to minimize the shedding. Any advise from individuals that have experienced the same issue would be much appreciated.

Tried to post pictures but for some reason the forum does not seem to want to accept any uploads for some reason...maybe next time!

What brand of food do you feed him? I noticed a drastic decrease in shedding during my last food switch. How often do you bathe and brush him?

To post pictures, you have to upload them to an external site like photobucket, flikr, imgur and paste the link on here. Due to the forum moving to a new server, the edit option no longer works. My dog sheds a lot no matter what diet he's on. I found the best way to brush him was to use a zoom groom and then when I'm done, I go over his coat with a boar bristle brush. I just use the one for horses. Furminator is great, but it is also pretty harsh on the skin causing lots of dandruff for us. I also used a pin brush and that didn't work so well either.

I have noticed significant improvement in Max's shedding since introducing coconut oil every day He gets 4 tablespoons daily now. We started off small. Very little shedding noted. Smells good with less frequent bathing. Shines. ACNE GONE!! I feed daily after his kibble. I spoon it onto a few pieces of cheese or meat. He waits at the fridge until he gets it.

Fish oil also is known to help with shedding but they smell fishy. The best thing for shedding is regular baths and brushing. The zoom groom is recommended on another forum I frequent.

I've not found anything that really helps control the shedding, so my recommendation is .... a really good vacuum and/or a rubber broom, lots of sticky rolls, and a sense of humor. I now coordinate my clothes to match Ella hair. Oh yeah - the dried slobber marks have become a fashion statement. Like glitter! It shimmers in the right light and makes me look festive! That's what I tell myself anyway.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I feed him Kirkland brand dog food ( Beef ) non grain from costco. I have not been brushing him often. I think I have the furminator but I have not used it in a while. I am going to try all things that were mentioned in the post. I just gave him a tablespoon of coconut oil and he loved it.

Hi Autumn shed a lot when on kibble grain free but when she was fed raw it all but stopped. She is now back on kibble an the shedding started again fish oil an coconut works well too but have found that bullymax works very well for her it's loaded with vitamins an sheding all but stopped again an also have found a grooming works best for her but remember every dog is different an what works for one may not work for another.
