Muzzle for Training....

Hey guys. Quick question.

I was wondering if any of you have ever used an actual muzzle; no biting, that is similar to a gentle leader? Meaning I would love a gentle leader that prevents biting. And preferably leather.

My boy has some nasty fear aggression towards people, so we need to start helping him over that. Then hopefully he will also stop having "accidents". D: poor baby.

Anyway. Thanks!

A gentle leader is a head halter, very different from a muzzle. A gentle leader or similar product such as the dogmatic or halti will help you to control the head but does not prevent a dog from biting. If you want something comfortable that will prevent bites look at the basket muzzles.

No, i know what it is. :)
I don't like thr basket muzzles. I feel like there's a bit of anxiety when it's obvious the dog is wearing a muzzle.

What I'm looking for is a muzzle gentle leader/head halter sort of "hybrid" haha.
I've seen a muzzle head/neck collar for smaller dogs; Jack russel to miniature bull terrier, but I cannot find anything else in the time I've searched for a mastiff.
I'm definitely going to get the head halter, but before I do I'd love to know if this product exists or anything remotely close.

Abasket muzzle really is the best answer. I understand your feeling that they can cause anxiety but 99% of people dont care too much. Max gets lots of good attention when his is on and also less people try to pet him which is good for him. We use a Baskerville muzzle and they are great, dog can pant, drink, and take treats when training but any risk of bitibg are completely removed.

Have a look on the Muzzled Up Project website for some good advice.

A lot of people still think a head halter is a muzzle as they don't see them that often. Honestly if it was me I would rather people know it is a muzzle if there is a chance of my dog biting so people know to stay away.
