Moving on: Meet Koa

Well, I have not been on in a while. Last year was a devastating year in several ways. I will not get into it all but with several deaths in the family and then a huge issue at our house, that, when it was all said and done left a huge financial mark on us, it was not the best of years. Once all the deaths were done in the family and we got back in our house my son was at school one day and Kabar collapsed. It was obvious something was very, very wrong and my wife called me in a panic. I rushed home to assist my wife but he died shortly after we got him to the hospital. They found he had a tumor on the underside of his bladder and it had penetrated the bladder wall and he passed. If you have read my posts in the past you will remember I have a special needs son and this news was beyond devastating to him, me, my wife and our other boys. Now, I am not here to preach to anyone but I believe all things are used of God and as bad as it sounds there are some positive things that can be seen from the events of last year. Being devastated with the house situation and the huge cost there I had no idea where I would get the money to be able to afford a new EM to replace Kabar for my son. With his needs it is very important that we keep him as stable as possible since change is one of his huge triggers. Because of some very nice people in the EM community and one of the members on this site I was able to find a very good breeder on the other side of the country. Long story short God provided the money and we were able to get our new EM and we named him Koa. No, not the camp ground but as in the wood from my wife’s home state of Hawaii. I am not a huge fan of all the talk on sites about weight. I believe the weight of the dog is not as important as the health of the dog. I feed Koa Earthborn Holistic and I think he does very well on it. It is the best food for my budget and the results have been great. I do not weigh Koa every week since I think running him back and forth to the vet all the time to just see what he weighs is a waste of time. I will post the weights that I have here so people can see them for reference. Koa is now a little over 9 months old and we got him at 8 weeks 5 days. I will try to do these pictures in some order but to be honest I have a tons of them and I was not prudent on keeping them organized. Please note that the boxer you see in some of the pictures was Kabar’s friend and was instrumental in him learning so fast. When we got Koa, Zoe was not impressed we did it to her again but once again she came to the challenge and helped train Koa. Sadly death stuck once again 4 weeks ago and after 10 years 11 months of faithful service, Zoe passed away. Well, I am getting very frustrated with this. I typed it all out but it has jumbled it all up. I try to edit it and it says the URL is not found. So I am not sure what the problem is here.

Okay, I am sorry but I am not understanding the deal. It shows it one way but as soon as I hit post it jumbles it all up. I can not edit any of it so I do not know. Sorry for the double posts but it will not work no matter what I do.

Kabar, I'm sorry to hear of your losses. You aren't doing anything wrong. The forum is undergoing some changes and the formatting doesn't work. You must use < p > without the spaces to create returns. To post pictures you must upload them to somewhere like Photobucket and then copy and paste the IMG code. Do not use preview post or all formatting is lost, despite the post appearing correct. Also, edit no longer works.

I look forward to seeing pictures of Koa.

I would be lying if I said I understood any of what you said! I guess just delete the thread and I will move on and maybe try some other day when it works.

No! Don't do that. It hasn't worked for a very long time and probably won't for who knows how long. How can we help you? I'm not the best at explaining, but maybe someone else can do better.

Its okay, I am not upset. Its a free site so its not like I can complain! I do not use Photo Bucket and I have noticed there doesn't seem to be a ton of activity on this forum like there used to be unless I am not looking in the right spots. I know this will come across bad and I do not mean it that way, I honestly don't. If it is going to be a bunch of hoops to go thru to post then it is not worth the hassle. Again, please understand I know it is a free site and so I am not complaining in a mean or antagonistic way. Life gets busy and I guess like anything we look for simple and fast results. Like today I thought I would type it out pick some photos and post them and move one. I am not at 2 hours trying to figure it all out and resize photos and make it stop jumbling the words up in my post. So again, no big deal I just thought I would jump back on here and update on my situation. So its not a big deal at all.

I agree, Kabar... it's a bit of a hassle, but I'm getting faster with the html coding to get paragraph breaks in the posts....

Posting to photobucket (I signed up for a free account, just to share pictures here) is an extra step... but I do it anyway.

There has been talk of a new server coming soon to fix all the stuff that got broken (over a year ago now??)... but... not sure on the timeline for the fix. :(

Sorry to hear of all the added burdens in your household recently. But glad you have a new EM to help share the load... dogs had a magical way of bringing us back to ground and reminding us of what really matters (for me that means love in this moment). I hope your path gets at least more joyful if not smoother, soon.

...and... welcome back!

Or if you have a smart phone you can get the Tapatalk app and it's a breeze to post pics and actually type paragraphs.

Welcome back! And please don't stop posting just because of the lack of paragraphs, I don't mind reading it that way:)

I am on tapatalk(an app on a smart phone or tablet etc) 99% of the time and posting pictures is a breeze.

I am sorry to hear about your losses. I agree that everything happens for reasons we may not understand but finding the positive helps me to heal. I had a dog who helped my ASD daughter get through meltdowns and all kinds of issues for 15 yrs. When he crossed the rainbow bridge she was devastated. I can feel your pain with that. I am happy to hear about the network of angels who helped to bring you a new mastiff, I'm sure that means the world to you! We also have many angels, including this site, who have helped us find health for our rescue. The world would be a difficult place without such people. Please pay it forward when you can<3
