Mooshi Update - Shedding, Recall and Photos

Love your pooches. :) My friend has a long-haired Akita who is blowing her coat right now. Two huge trash bags barely contained all the fur...

I also agree with the "happy voice" you used to redirect Mooshi's attention, even though in a panic that's the last type of voice pitch that usually comes out, LOL. Takes practice, but it has worked for Mateo as well in a few sticky situations.

Oh yeah it does take practice. My hubby started to walk towards her I had to tell him no just leave her as I looked a complete fool and skipped like a little girl waving my arms about shouting THIS WAY, THIS WAY in a really stupid voice. But hey it worked and the rider stayed seated and my bubba was a very good girl and did as she was asked.

Holy Bananas! That is A LOT of fur!! Have you ever thought of selling it? Ha Ha Ha You could make millions. :)

Those are some good looking kids you've got there. Love Bear!

I've found the "THIS WAY" crazy lady dance works well even with stubborn one-way bulldogs! :)

Somewhere we developed a good whistle-look with Denna. It's just a "you-hoo" whistle, but it makes her look, every time... that look is all you need to start running the other way and get them chasing. :)

Love the hair pile. Impressive. Very Impressive.

Much better than the recall I use with Daisy. She has selective hearing off leash & I have to say really loud, "Mmmmm I'm gonna go get some CHEEESSSEEEE & TREEEEATS...." & usually that reels her back in. With Duchess I have to do the high pitched talking to babies voice & kneel down then she comes running

Cee Cee that was nothing at all, not even a quarter of what has come out of her all in all. I've got about 3 big green garbage bags full this year!

 ONLY at times like these I'm glad I have a single coat short haired doggy :)

I love boo bear! I don't think I've ever seen his photos before! And the negged chick is as hot as the mommy methinks, if not more ;) They say that doggies take on the owner's characteristics, you know.

Congrats on the raise! And all the best with the weight gain!

You're my hero! That kind of patience is something I don't have. (My own hair is past my bum just because I don't have the patience to sit there while someone cuts it.)

Wow...I'm now worried that Zeus is no where near finished shedding!!
The Ice on Ice has arrived so I'm going to be giving that a go this weekend on his backend and tail....wish me luck!
Congratulations on the raise, I could do with one of those.

This is the thread that makes me rethink wanting a Newfoundland Dog. I love the look, personality and rarity(around my parts) but the coat makes me shy away sometimes though I am sure it helps the bonding process if introduced properly.

Had to laugh at your fur pic-

I am blessed in that Tessa, my lil muppet is 1/2 rottie & blew that puppy fur--Whew!!!
Though now all of a sudden her tail fur is getting long & slightly feathery...

I don't know if I could do a pure TM, lol I wasn't even tryin to do 1/2!!!

--between the fur & the subtlety, I'd be in the nuthouse for sure!

BTW--I now started to just whistle -a specific whistle--just for recall-& treat with super duper snacks each time (I carry a baggie full of slim jims or kielbasi) & well--it even worked at the dog park more than once--

The "name game" ain't workin with recall, I'm gonna have to use a sound that doesn't imply ANY emotion.
Damn dog is smarter than me & knows if I am faking the happy name call.
She also likes to pretend she's deaf when I am talking to her, I think she thinks I talk too much.
The more I repeat, or the louder I get-the deafer she gets!!!
yes, I've yelled a few times, & guess what? She looks at me like "yeah so?"
The whistle I do is from some sci-fi flick, can't remember which one--it'll come to me.
Cats already come to it since I used it with my last girl, usually for bedtime.

Yes they do lol

I can't speak for Tessa, but purebred TMs only shed once a year (basically period), and are fairly dry mouthed in comparison to the other giants.

Unless you have something really yummy then they are drool monsters too.

Thanks CeeCee!

Catia - I am really happy for you...it takes time and patients and is never going to be 100% but a recall can happen with a TM...Im not making it up I promise. LOL.
