Miss Lucy

Since I joined the forum with Kronos my DDB I always peeped the Boerboel pages and kept learning about the breed. Kronos was to be my son's dog at the start but he bonded closet to me and then recently we moved onto some land and my son loves to go exploring on it and obviously Kronos , Texas heat, and lots of exploring don't mesh. So we discussed getting another dog and were deciding what to get when we came upon Miss Lucy. A lovely family had two boerboels they have kept them separated on their acreage and mom was due for her spay as she was 24 months. Long story short dad decided to dig what amounts to a 6 foot trench from his part of the acreage and 10 pups were the result. The litter went to their family and friends until there was just one. They intended to keep Miss Lucy because they didn't want her in the wrong hands, but lucky for us they attempted to try and find her her own family, and that family turned out to be us. All I can say is what an amazing girl. She's 6 months old and reared by both her parents and a family with four kids. She has been socialized with everything. Has beautiful house manners and best of all hangs on my son like glue. I don't think I have ever had a puppy with the intensity and focus this girl has she never takes her eyes off her family.http://s615.photobucket.com/user/jessica1976_photo/media/OWNER-PC/13254608_1173388002679608_7879825680256016596_n_1.jpg.htmlhttp://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt237/jessica1976_photo/OWNER-PC/13230245_1173388196012922_8882101727376082461_n_1.jpghttp://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt237/jessica1976_photo/OWNER-PC/13238927_1173387372679671_8570309189240393726_n_1.jpghttp://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt237/jessica1976_photo/OWNER-PC/13230245_1173337382684670_9004670145633576678_n_1.jpghttp://i615.photobucket.com/albums/tt237/jessica1976_photo/OWNER-PC/13244837_1173337339351341_8546521787258071260_n_1.jpg

She is beautiful! That intensity of focus was what attracted me to the boerboel as well. I'll never forget when I visited my breeder for the first time and I saw that 150lb dog walking off leash glued to the breeder's side and splitting her time looking at us, the new people on her property, and then straight up to the breeder as if asking for input what to do. They are special indeed.

Yes I saw that too from her parents too. They were just watching everything then every so often one parent would wander back to the adults and brush against us, circle us, then go back to their sentry post . Mom stayed with the kids where they were playing dad with the adults. Then whenever mom wandered to check us out again dad went with the kids. The thing that struck me was watching mastiffs go full run and playing in the Texas heat that's not something you see everyday. Watching her dad run actually made me feel sad for my ddb who loves to run when it's cold but obviously can't when it heats up.

Her dad was Irish marked.I liked him a lot, he moved like a dog half his size and while he was a big boy he had a nice proportion. While I am obviously nothing but a novice when it comes to boerboels I do know what I wanted from all the researching I've done. I've seen a lot of boerboels that remind me way too much of my ddb in bone, shape, and head. I tend to like the dogs that are more "farm type" The dads ears made me laugh he has lovely ears but the minute he goes to attention they wonk up lol. His owner told me it started during teething she tried taping but she just gave it up because the female would just come along and yank the tape off if he didn't. I fell in love with the mom though and I am glad Lucy favors her. Her movement was amazing when she was playing with dad she would run at him then quick turn and use her side coupled with her speed and agility to push him around. I had more pics but my phone isn't co operating but the first is mom and dad at about 18 months I'd say. The dad's grown into those lips they are much tighter now.

That yorkie thinks he's a boerboel by the way. He doesn't yap and when we drove out to the property and we waited at the end up the drive the boerboels got up gave a bark and stood in front of the house to let us know they knew we were there then watched us. They didn't charge down the driveway but stayed in front of the house and the darn yorkie did the same thing lol.

Ahh the Irish dogs. Comes from the Ysterberg influence, they were an old part of the BB and broke out to do their own thing. Since he had the ears I suggest you get some Sure-Grow 100 from Amazon for when yours starts to teethe it will help to prevent the fly-away ears.
