Maverick and Sahara

I have lost both my heart and soul in under a year.
I lost my Bullmastiff Sahara last December when she got gastric torsion at 11 years old. We did everything her whole life that we could to prevent this yet in the end it didn't help. The vet said I caught it so quickly that she didn't actually have any damage caused by it but I guess in the end she just couldn't recover from the invasiveness of this surgery.
She was my soul dog.
My other two bullmastiffs Maverick and Lexi helped me through this loss and my grief.
In November of this year, not even a year after losing Sahara we lost our big beautiful boy Maverick. He wasn't eating like normal and after trying to get hjm to eat everything we could thinking it was maybe a bug of some sort we took him to the vet. His kidney values were off the charts and he was in kidney failure. We drove him 4 hours to the best vet we knew of hooked to an IV. After 5 days of trying literally everything to bring his values down he didn't have any more fight left. We had to say goodbye to our big handsome boy. My heart is still broken eventhough it has taken me a few months since losing Mav before I could even post this.
RIP Sahara and Maverick my heart and soul

My heart goes out to you and your family. I lost two dogs within a month of each other a little over 4 years ago and it was
Devastating.
You will need to go forward and when the time is right you will know it is time to add a new member to the family.
Know this no dog can be replaced, only new ones added to the pack.

Let me say how sorry I am to hear of your loss. Heartbreaking.
Cherish that first picture of the two looking at you with such love! You could not reproduce that shot in a million years. One of the best photos I have ever seen. Hoping you will heal and find room in your heart and soul for another pup...when the time is right.

Thank you both :) we still have Lexi our brindle Bullmastiff and about a month before we lost Mav we had purchased our first Corso Angus. So I still have them. They have helped me through my loss of Mav the same way Mav and Lexi helped me through my loss of Sahara.
I am so so thankful I still have them :)
