Looking for a Boerboel

Hello, I live in the DC/MD/VA area and am looking for a young (1.5 yr or less) Boerboel. I prefer a shelter or rescue dog in need of a good home. They are hard to find! If anyone has any info on how I can locate one, please let me know at johnetteb@gmail.com or 313.282.1263. Thanks!

I second don't go to gentle giants.

OP check out clubs to find a breeder, they may have older dogs available or know someone who has.

GM2009, THANK YOU for posting the info about GGR. This information is all new to me & I will discontinue recommending them to anyone. I was under the impression that they were legit. :(

Me too, I had no idea about GGR. This is sickening and I hope they get shut down. Karma...that's all I can say...Karma...

Have you looked at their website? It's so weird & you can tell the pictures are old! I felt a little creeped out watching the video of all the dogs in their bedroom all over their bed & such....

As of recent they haven't had a lot of "heat" but they're STILL doing these things. Many people have commented they are believed to be breeding then making up sap stories for these "puppies". Honestly, how many Great Dane puppies can you have at one time in rescue? All of the very reputable rescues I know are lucky to get puppies. The fact is in giant breeds people keep them AS puppies and once they're GROWN they realize the hassle. That's why it's common to have 12-24month old puppies but rarely 10 week olds! They frequently have "rare" breeds, too. That always struck me odd.

Yes, even NOW their pictures are old. The fact that they would keep that many giant breed dogs in their home is appalling. They've also been known to spend "donations" on their own private pool!! Many of their dogs are seriously ill and once they place them the "rescue" sends out lawsuits to make more money. Everything about them is a nightmare.

Did you also notice how they have their own food brand that they push & "force" people to use on their rescues for money? It's all a money scheme!! Really ticks me off!

I spent some time reading testimonials on these people & I'd say at least 95% of the people that adopted from them ended up with sick dogs. I also looked at their available list on petfinder, in one of the videos on one of the ads she had like 5-6 great Dane pups, all were white with some markings (forgive me I'm not familiar with Dane coloring) & the way her voice sounds in the video just infuriates me. She also says they're all deaf but can still hear then starts screeching at them in a high pitched annoying voice. I cannot believe they are charging people nearly $1000 for an adoption fee & basically all these people get is an unhealthy dog, no vaccines, no spay/neuter, & then they usually turn around & spend hundreds to thousands of dollars more to get the dog well. They need to be shut down.

I agree with you completely! I just can't believe with all these people coming forward nothing has been done. It's a money scheme and that's it. Who consistently has Neos, Boerboels, and Irish Wolfhounds? Most rescues I know like that rarely have these dogs continually and if they do their either poorly bred or mixes as the actual breeders tend to take them back. Nothing about them is "good"!

What I didn't realize was the rarity of some of those breeds. I think I've seen 1 IWH once in my life & she was enormous. And what the heck is an adronicus mastiff? I read a review where someone stated there was no such thing...sounds like something they made up after watching Harry potter.

I've never heard of any registry accepting an "Adronicus Mastiff" and highly suspect someone mixed some breeds together to make a business out of it. Funny... Two schemes coming together! ;-)

They fully state their dogs are hybrids. And you can have one from $2500-6000. Guaranteed as a puppy to be protective and bad ass.

I suspect they interest fools obsessed with wealth, status symbols, and the need to own something tough like the NFL and boxing champions.

I remember when the first became "popular". And when I say popular I mean more of laughing stock to most dog enthusiasts.
