Julius K9 Harness

Does anyone use these harnesses?
I've heard good reviews, like the look and thing they seem like a good idea but I've never seen one on such a barrel chested dog. Every photo or review seems to be from GSD owners (Julius started off making military and police harnesses so this makes sense)
Any opinions would be welcome cos I'm having trouble finding a harness that fits and is comfortable. And I don't want to spend £50 on internet to find that it fits badly.

They are nearly identical to the Dean and Tyler brand I use for my service dog and service dog in training but I prefer th e one with padded chest plate for pulling and to balance the harness.

Yeah the one I actually want is slightly different to pic 1. Pic 3 is padded. I'm liking the idea of the bags so he can carry some weight to improve his muscle tone and give him a job (carrying beer back fro the shop would be a good job haha)

This is an old thread, so I am curious as to whether you got the harness and if so how you like it. I just ordered a similar style (different manufacturer) for my 5 yo EM boy. He used to wear a Dean and Tyler harness, which was okay, but he has outgrown it now and I wanted to try something different. He currently wears a Walkeez fleece harness (now discontinued) which is a different style of harness completely.

I didn't get one in the end. Not for any reason really I just never got round too it.
I've seen loads of GSD owners like them and they are used by police where I live so they seem to have a good reputation.
Tried a similar style on our new springer the other day and it he walked so calmly on it. I'll defo be looking in to them again.

I am looking for a decent harness for Yogi, too. Mostly for nosework, but it's really hard to find one that fits. I bought a Dean and Tyler harness, sent it back as it didn't fit and was SOOOOOO stiff. One of the people in my nosework class uses a Julius K9 for her JRT and likes it, but again, different build.

Ok people school me on harnesses, I can't see a good reason for a harness unless the dog is pulling or dragging something.
Is there other reasons to harness a large dog?

More places to grab if you needed to hold the dog back or maybe the dog has a sensitive throat or maybe it's just a preference or maybe they are working on llw on a harness lol.

So for instances where you are working a dog and don't want obedience to hinder drive, a harness works really well. For instance, Yogi does K9 Nosework. There is NO obedience in nosework, only building drive to find odor, I just need to be able to manage the leash and follow him. I don't want him to hesitate when on odor because he feels the pressure of the collar on his neck and reverts back to his obedience training of no pulling on the collar. It's also much easier to handle a pulling dog and balance their weight when on a harness.

Also, for Lillie, who is a puppy, I want her to be able to freely move and get excited about meeting people and sniffing the world and having new experiences. So I harness her and let her go. I then train NO PULLING on a collar. So she learns to pull and enjoy the world, building drive for working later while on a harness, and she learns to walk nice and pay attention on a collar.

I have been using a similar harness K9 for three weeks or son and have been happy with it. I use the harness with a long 50ft lead to allow him the freedom to sniff. For regular walks we use a prong, while he can walk very well on a loose leash, he still does get the impulse to go off to sniff something, so I need something to deter him from doing that because he can pull through anything.

This is an old thread but I will answer just in case someone else will be interested. We do have one Julius k-9 harness and i can say it's a very nice quality. Extremely strong, washes well, easy to put on. I was thinking about getting another one but after 2 years it still looks like new so no need for that. Here's my girl posing :)
