Happy Birthday Jiggers! He reminds me of a neighborhood dog from my childhood. My grandmother loved that dog. She would swim and romp in the marsh, show up at my grandmother's and even though it was not her dog- she would bathe it and feed it. Off again through the marsh and mud and she'd come back a few days later for a repeat.

He was sold as a Golden Irish, the designer breed name. Golden Irish sounds like some sort of ale to me instead of a dog breed. Since I had apparently bought some sort of alcohol instead of a puppy I kept his name along that theme. A jigger is a tool used to measure alcohol for mixed drinks. If you haven't guessed it prefer unusual names for my pets (Jiggers, Kryten, Skreea, Monkey), the only one with a normal name is Taffy and I kept the shelter name for her as it fit her.

Sometimes keeping their feet on the bottom can be a good thing. Kryten has only actually swam once and he could barely keep his face above the surface. I like the fact that he prefers to wade at the shore.
