Is pork extra gassy?

Just an update... I have reduced her daily total of food by 3/4 of a lb and she is doing much better after her meals... she doesn't have that "miserable" and "bloated" look.. she also hasn't gone back to really scarfing it down so I think im finding her balance...
As for the sleeping more... I believe she is having yet another growth spurt... I knew she was gonna be a big dog... mastiffs just are... and I knew she was going to grow at a fairly significant rate... but i never thought in a million years I would be able to see her size difference almost daily!! I joke about how a dog will always grow into its paws... im finding she grows into her paws about a week at a time and then her paws get bigger so she has to grow some more!!
I really wish I would of thought of the craft project I'm thinking of doing when we brought her home!! I'll post pictures in a new thread when I get it started! !!

Glad to hear you're finding a balance that is working now. They do grow in their sleep! One day they can walk under the coffee table - the next it seems they are resting their big old heads on top of it. Thankfully it does slow down.

The day we got her, we weren't expecting it... so my son (4 yrs old) held her on the way home and thoughout the 45 min drive he randomly was blurting out things I needed to go to the store for. He was so sweet to be so concerned for her.
I purchased cheaper things for her, because I knew she would grow and most things like a collar, a kennel, toys would be too small for her sooner rather than later... I got the medium kennel because I wanted a little bit of time before upgrading to the huge one, and she needed a smaller one for kennel training... im very thankful her kennel training we fast and she is a smart puppy because in about 4-5 weeks time we have already upgraded her to the biggest one I can find!! She probably could have lasted another couple of weeks to a month in the one I purchased but when she laid down in full stretch on her side... she was butt to head in the longest part of it.. LOL... I just didn't want to cramp her up in there...
Im looking forward to her vet visit next week to see how much she has grown in the past 3 weeks!!!

I was chuckling as I read this. We too have 2 upright freezers and a 2nd fridge/freezer in the garage. I also have a crap ton of kitchen supplies that come in handy at the most odd times;) lol
And his exact answer to my raw feeding was "just do it, you're gonna anyways" and then a few weeks in he was extremely supportive and was doing his own research for more options. And fast forward 7.5 months and he is cutting open a cow stomach in freezing weather to help me harvest the tripe! I absolutely love my supportive husband:)

He is so funny sometimes!! I told him I had ordered a case of whole chickens and a case of chicken backs... he came home and I was just getting the first 4 finished up and bagged... he just laughed and said well you look like you're having fun... and I asked him if I skinned them if he would use the cleaver and hack them up with the cleaver... he did!!!
I had them all boxed up and was heading out to the get them all in the freezer and it was at this time he asked if we had enough room for all that out there all that?!? LOL!!!
He told me the other day he was telling some girls at work about how she eats a little over 2 lbs of food a day and they were shocked... he then figured out they thought it was 2 lbs of kibble! ! So he then delved into telling them about eating the raw meat with the bones and all... and how they responded with shock we even felt safe thinking about feeding her chicken bones!! I had to explain to him why it was ok to feed the raw bones vs the cooked... and im sure he's passed along the info...
I tell him I'm not an expert just because I've spent so much time researching... im still learning and that I found this forum with so many helpful people!! He's come to realize that sometimes I may have an off the wall idea, and it's best to just kinda ride it out... but most of the time there is a method to my madness!!!

I have done the tripe frozen - gave it a good rinse outside then rolled it like a jellyroll with plastic wrap and froze. Hubby helped me cut it into "cookies" with a reciprocating saw while it was still frozen. Cut way down on the smell at feeding time.

Make sure to clean the saw blades really well before and after. We've just set aside one set to use for the tripe now - the acids from it will rust the blades if not cleaned really well. And its able to be done in the garage or outside. I'd put down something easy to clean up if you do it in the garage - you will get tripe "crumbs" from the sawing. Hope it works as well for you as it does for us.
