How NOT to train a dane

thelady, i saw first hand how dogs can be treated there, it's not that they won't back down, it's that they haven't seen any other person than their family, and are probably considered useless if they don't back down. They are much different though, the generations of breeding is always based on the most aggressive dogs. It is really unfortunate. The bigger the dog, the more of guardians they are though of there.

Many that he came in contact with had NO human interaction, they were feral and stray. That was more common than anyone having a "pet" dog.

Ahh i see, the one i saw was a purebred lab from what i could tell, so i'm guessing there are some breeders there. I can imagine how some wouldn't back down, as they have never been bred, or there behavior has spiraled out of control, because of handlers. And by that, did the strays attack him or something?

My husband is big, 6'3", 220 lbs and not afraid of a lot of things. He said it was the only time he has even been afraid of a dog biting him. And, the strays would attack and they would have to kill them. Also, a lot of Marines would adopt dogs and puppies. On one deployment, a litter of puppies was adopted. Soon after the command said no dogs on the FOB, so as the head person on his base, he was ordered to kill them. He drove them several miles out into the dessert and let them go, but didn't tell anyone that. He said he just crossed his fingers that they wouldn't find their way back.

That is so nice of him really, i would've done the same. But if it's a dog i bonded with, i don't know i'd give em up, probably get him shipped back, with my own money and by friends. I probably could never shoot a dog stray or not, if i was given an order. He's a good man really.
