Himalayan Dog chews?

Yak cheese. I've used it when my guy was a pup. Lasted forever. He loved it. Plus if they actually swallow it, it dissolves unlike raw hide or bones!

My Zoe could just crunch through them like hard candy, even as a young pup. We don't use them anymore as they didn't last and weren't cost efficient

We give them a bunch. You can microwave when they get small and they puff up like a crunchy chew! Awesome :). I do think there was a recall on some Himalayan product but don't quote me if it was this or another item or company. We don't buy much because they're a bit pricey for every day

I tried them once with Kryten. He ate the largest size in less than 10 minutes (I watched him chew it so I know it wasn't swallowed in large chunks). Way to expensive to be gone that fast.

There are a bunch of bogus ones out there that are not made with yak milk and not preserved the way it is done in the region it originated from.
But they are definitely not for strong chewers!

I think the recall was on the himalayan root and only a certain lot number from Petsmart. My dog loves the root (looks like a chunk of wood).

I've not tried those, but my pups love the Bully Sticks (pretty cost effective at Costco) and the Elk antlers which are really pricey but they are so hard these pups aren't even making a dent in them.

The root is pretty expensive, but pretty indestructible. For thirty dollars, I thinks it's worth it.

The weird thing is that said "natural" roots (with the recall, had metal objects in them) didn't make a lot of sense to me? Since when does a natural product have slivers of metal in it? How is that even possible?
It think the recall was a weird outlier for this particular company.

My 30-40 dollar "root" has survived months of damage from my pup. His dentist (trying to repair a canine break) told me that anything you could slap against your knee and feel pain, is a pup toy you should avoid. I went with this for about a month, only to find that my pup finds anything that smells like wood, chew-worthy. We now need buy a new living room coffee table, need to refurbish an antique Chinese table.

I gave my pup back his Himalayan root.

Denna LOVES hers. The "giant" ones (biggest they make) last her for 3-4 weeks. She chooses it as a chew toy 4-5 nights a week. The antler gets chosen 1-2 nights, and the rest of the evenings are tug toys that she expects me to be on the other end of.

We have not tried the "root"... they seem harder than antlers to me, which seems like a potential tooth-wreck.

PS - I'm just south of you, Natalie, if you find you like them, I can get them at wholesale prices via the local raw-food coop (wazzuor.com)... I'd be happy to get extra and meet up with you somewhere, save you about 30% off retail. We order them a few times a year on the group.
