Chain is going to catch hair too.

Are you looking for something to leave on him to put his tags on or something to attach a leash to?

With my TM his tags are on a very thin rolled leather collar that he wears all the time. When we need to put a leash on him we put a completely different collar (braided paracoard with a chain martingale and metal quick release buckle) to attach the leash too.

Welcome! I still see a little matting around it in the spring when he's shedding, but much less than any other collar I tried.

I'm not a fan of the traditional buckles. I like the ones that click together, but with a big dog, you need to know it's gonna hold should the pooch decide to lunge.
I also don't do choke type collars, just a personal preference,

Someone on the forum, in the spring-- I believe in the TM section posted an extra wide collar, black, like a 1 1/2-- 2" wide--it was made of something that was similar to seat-belt material & was padded-Maybe it was Broccolini? The thickness is easier on the throat & also adds some better control.

At any rate, I really liked the collar & set out to find something similar. I saw some at Petco, of all places, but I was concerned the click together clasp part might not hold up, but I purchased it anyway & have been VERY happy with it. http://www.petco.com/product/114768/Petco-Comfort-Adjustable-Purple-Dog-Collar.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch

They come in a bunch of colors. Mine was $14 & has held up quite nice for a 'cheap' collar. The online prices appear lower than the in store.

I do not have any matting issues, it does not catch her fur, & despite how thick it is, & the fact that it's purple, you barely see it even with her summer coat.
I feel better control with this collar, even though I keep it adjusted loose enough that she can slip it for most walks. I tighten it so she can't slip it for walks where there is more activity.
I do remove her collar when we are home most times.

Here is the link to the thread re: the collar Broccolini posted for a better reference to the thickness of the one I purchased.

Curious if she's still using the thicker collar for Athena & her experiences with it, & since she has 2 TM's wonder what D'Argo is using since he has all of the extra male TM fluff.

Just FYI--the Petco link I posted does not show an actual pic of the 1 1/2" thick collar, it just shows 1 size--it shows a skinnier one--the collar I have looks like the one in Broccolini's pics & is padded.
I've also thrown it in the washing machine with no issues. I really like that it's padded too.

Or if you want an every day collar we have a neoprene clip collar with a double d ring, one on each side of the clip, so even if the clip comes undone when walking the collar stays on.

Dont have a picture of a collar on its own but you can see what I mean by the picture.

That double D ring in genius!

And yes, Catia, we are still using the wide collar along with a front clip D&T harness.

Ya--I'm really liking that double D ring collar too--it's a nice 'failsafe'-had not seen that before.
Darn--now I gotta find one of those--because I've never fully trusted the clips, I've only had 1 break, & that was years ago, but it's always in the back of my mind.

Will you post a pic of the whole collar when you have time?

Its nothing fancy the material is good quality ots fully adjustable and hard wearing. We use a lot of easy dpg products including a few of his leashes, includes a 5m runner coated training leash, his harness which is really really good, toys and obviously collars. Not sure which websites sell to America but definetly worth a look. I will try and find some for you and post thw link up
