Help - Average puppy weight

Dexter is now 11 months old and following a recent health check at the vets has been classed as underweight he's currently 43.5kg (95.9lb)? I've tried searching but can't seen to find a weight chart.

What sort of weight did your puppies weigh in at at this age?

Also for a good few months we have struggled to get a solid BM out of him, the vets have run sample analysis which was negative for parasites and worms but did have an elevated level of a type of bacteria that they expected to see, we were prescribed a course of antibiotics and a fiber supplement which appear to have made the problem worse? we have changed his food from a chicken based complete food to a sensitive fish and potato based complete food and are about to cut out dairy (he has only ever had lactose free or goats milk with his breakfast anyway) i'm losing the will to live with my vets now so any suggestions will be gratefully received

My Great Dane Dexter was 90lbs at 6 months, which was when I got him. At 11 months he was probably about 120lbs, he was super lean and didn't really start filling out until he was 2 years old. People asked me if he was mixed with Greyhound when he was younger. He topped out at 150lbs.

We also struggled with solid poops when he was growing, we tried different foods until we found one that seemed to work for him, but I'm not sure it was the food or just timing of when he stopped growing so much. We also tried a bunch of stuff like pumpkin, probiotics, supplements, but really nothing worked while he was growing.

I feel for you, it is super frustrating to have a dog with stomach problems. I would say if he is active and alert and keeps his food down, I wouldn't worry too much.

How tall is he?
My girl was 103 at 10 months but dropped to 92lbs during a false pregnancy because she didn't eat for basically months.
She is now 23 months and 113lbs as she really filled out this fall. She is about 28 inches tall. Her brothers are 130-140ish but males are bigger so keep in mind you boy will tend to me more than the males. Also apollos growth chart is posted in an earlier thread and he is a male tm. I suggest u switch to raw food and forgo all that food nonsense.

My boy had some problems when he first came home to us. One night got really sick and kept throwing up, so we brought him to an animal ER. We were also told after a few tests that he had an elevated type of bacteria. He was given some fluids, and like you, some antibiotics.

We were never told to change his food, nor does he have any allergies to our knowledge, so we kept feeding him the same dog food. However we have noticed that he does not withstand changes to his diet very well. So we have kept him on the same types of food. Even though we keep his diet consistent, there are times when his waste is not perfect. When that happens we put him back on a probiotic for a couple of weeks then everything is normal again. We have never rechecked his bacteria levels, but we suspect he does occasionally have an imbalance, but that is normally fixed after taking the probiotic.

At his last check up my boy was 166 lbs (2 yrs old). But he is going to be 3 soon, and I know he has gained a few more lbs since he looks bigger. From my understanding TM's grow at a slower rate. I think as long as his body shape is good, and he has not lost any weight, he should be fine. I don't have a chart (which I keep kicking myself for not making) but my boy has never lost weight. As he was growing he did gain weight, but it was a little at a time. He didn't really get a growth spurt until he reached 2. And from his size and how he looks right now, we suspect he might get another growth spurt because both his parents are bigger than he is.

Titan, a DDB, gained 10 lbs the month before he turned 3 years of age. He is now 5 years of age and he's holding at about 140lbs.

My Ivy is small for a TM, only 70 pounds at 11 months! Hard to see his body composition from the picture but a Dexter looks to my (uneducated) eye to be a healthy dog. I wouldn't worry too much. Incidentally Ivy had very runny/soft poops as a young pup. A combination of powdered probiotics sprinkled on her food & sweet potato chews cured it. Pumpkin is also good to solidify poops. The plain canned kind, not the pumpkin pie filling.
