Health problems

We purchased an English Mastiff puppy from what seemed like a reputable breeder. He was diagnosed with elbow
dysplasia at 6 1/2 months. Our contract stated a 1yr health guarantee. I have emailed and called the breeder. Any
suggestions on how to proceed?

You need to read the contract very carefully. Many breeders that guarantee hips and elbows state that, not just a 1yr. health guarantee. Many breeders want you to send the pup back before they give you a replacement/refund. Many breeders don't guarantee elbows because they figure you can get it fixed. No matter how reputable the breeder, or how careful the breeding, this is life we're talking about and bad things can happen. A good breeder trys to stack the deck in favor of a healthy litter. Try to keep an open mind and work with him/her

Search the forum here for "dysplasia"... there are numerous posts with great advice on management, treatments, supplements, and what you can expect.

I hope your breeder is supportive of you and the puppy getting through this together!

There's lots of support here, too. Any chance you have pictures of your puppy??
