We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.
Haha. I think she clearly believes I'm insane. I had to tell her sit/stay twice ... she kept trying to follow me away from Santa ... I'm shocked we got a decent picture. The whole afternoon was quite the fun experience.
Wow , that's a beautiful dog! How old is she? I didn't even know there was such a test. It sounds so interesting! How long did it take her to be ready for that exam? Thanks,
Julio
Julio, she's almost a year - Dec 22 is her birthday. We have done several obedience class sessions but the tipping point was her board-and-train over the summer. They got her to a great point with loose-leash walking that I just could not seem to achieve on my own. She does not do a formal "heel" but she does not pull on the leash now and it makes a huge difference. Everything else, I just worked on her day after day. She's far from perfect but she has come a long way. I actually only had a week to get her solid on the "stay," but we have been working on obedience for so long now that she got that pretty quickly. I don't know that I would trust her in an off-leash stay for minutes at a time if there were distractions, but she did enough to pass the test. ;-)
I think you'll see a lot more change due to her age. It seemed Tessa really started to "get it" with commands & training much differently between 12-18 months.
Catia,
Thanks and I hope that is true about the training/commands.
I would like to start a Rally class soon with Ivy. I think she will really enjoy it and the trainer is encouraging it.
She still has the occasional RG issue, but we have all learned how to deal with her now and they are coming fewer and farther between (knock wood). I am hoping that as we stay the course with her behavior, this will become something she realizes is never acceptable.
