Guys I have a Question

Ok so i have non nuetered male non nuetered female if all goes right in about another year i plan to breed them. BUT, she should be going into heat soon and the last thing i need is a unplanned pregnancy especially with a young female dog. So my question to all of you breeders is how do you guys keep your dogs seperate ( i know male dogs have gone through chain linked fence, walls, and doors to get to a female in heat) thanks in advanced

I'm not a breeder either, but my friends completely separate their dogs. Their male goes to stay with some family while the female is in heat.

We have underwear for when the dogs are in the house and we crate and rotate with one or the other being behind closed doors in a crate until the heat cycle isn't complete. We also do not let the females outside without being on leash (fencing not put in yet) as you can never be sure how far a male will come if he scent's your female.

You have an APBT and a Fila correct, I do not want to jump to conclusions so I am going to ask, you aren't going to be breeding these 2 dogs together are you?

If that's the case I'd love to know WHY? What would be the goal in breeding this mix? Or is it more of a convenience thing... I have a Pit, I have a Fila, They're both great dogs, might as well breed them?
