Got asked to breed Chuy

Got asked to breed my boy. This gyp is out of tomball dogos here in Texas and ladogos from Louisiana. They are two well known breeders of WORKING dogs. I know thay cull anything that won't make grade. My Question is what should I ask for. I have waited a long time for the right match up and may never breed him again. Also the dogo nationals is coming up and I'm going to put him in to get certified. .

I have no idea how to answer your question.

My general answer is that if you don't know if you should or shouldn't do something, you probably shouldn't...

Guild luck to you and Chuy at the Dogo specialty.

I'm not sure if you're asking what you should ask for as a stud, or what questions you should ask these breeders about their dogs. I'm also not familiar with the Dogo world, but I know that with most breeds, usually stud fees are the going rate for a show quality dog, or a puppy out of the breeding.

I'd do the round of health testing (if you haven't already)...make sure their bitches are sound as well. Even though working drive is prevalent in both dam and sire and a main reason for the selection...they still need to score high for structure.

If you breed him, I would be interested in considering a little, itty bitty puppy who hasn't gotten a bad start per our conversation. :)

Do I have it wrong or does culling mean what I think it means? And that's a POSITIVE for these breeders??

I would do some health testing, make sure your boy is sound (inside and out) or at least know what you are looking at. Also I think there is some testing to be done in regards to hearing with your breed due to an issue with deafness being a problem in the breed. I think the test determines if he is a carrier or not and knowing if the female is will give you an idea of what to expect in the litter.

As far as what to ask that is entirely up to you. If you want a puppy back then take that as payment, or if you prefer cash then come up with a price that you believe is reasonable for what your boy has to offer.

It can be, and to be honest in most working ranches and such it is exactly as you read it. They are a hard place and dogs that don't work or have issues they do not waste time on. I could be wrong and fixitlouie can tell us if they actually are placed out on contracts of spay and neuter. It is not something I agree with but do know it happens.

Depending on the breeder and the situation culling can mean anything from destroying pups who don't fit the requirements to simply ensuring that they are spayed/neutered before leaving to a new home. Although I don't agree with destroying healthy pups we might have fewer problems in some breeds if the practice was still in regular use. Or maybe we'd have worse problems thanks to idiots who breed regardless of problems in order to get a specific type, hard to say.

Fixitlouie stated elsewhere, though, that the breeding did not go through.

Culling means pts. There not in it for money. Its the training and ability thats most important. This match up I passed on but got connectioned on another bitch. Both have had hearing and vet checks...that goes with out saying. Were looking for what the breed was actually ment for. Hunting, guarding and a cool disposition around all situations. I think we got it. See post white monsters for Christmas. .thanks yall
