Before I get lambasted here, she meant well and didn't know any better until I explained to her the reasons why she should never do that again. Of course, I happened to fall in love with the puppy and there's no way I'd send her back. At least she'll have a wonderful life as a part of my family. I did some quick internet research and see that her listed breeders certainly appear to be a "puppy mill" although the name of the breeder is different than the name of the previous breeder name although the company name and address is the same. QD Kennels in Charm, Ohio. I plan on going back to the pet store and making some inquiries but I wanted to post here in hopes you all can give me good advice or answer some questions for me as I'm sure I'll get the runaround and stonewalling from the store. I currently have a GSD I bought from a reputable breeder and she's been wonderful. Her bloodline and OFA certs were shown to me by the breeder and her parents through great grandparents were all OFA certified good to excellent and I was able to register her with AKC. The paperwork I have on this new puppy I believe says I can't register her and the only info I have on her parents is their weights are handwritten on her paperwork. Although there's not much I can do now even if her parents don't have a good OFA cert, I would still like to know if they have been OFA certified or not and what those results are. Also, I would like to know who her parents are so I can at least have some idea of her bloodline and I'd like to try and get this puppy Sch titled. I had my GSD well on her way to being titled but a divorce ended that path as I was unable to afford her training anymore. Does my not being able to register my new pup mean I can't get her titled? Why would I not be able to register her with AKC? Do I have any legal recourse if the pet store stonewalls me in getting her parents info? My GF says the pet store person she talked to said the parents were OFA certified and that she knows the breeder to be reputable. Any assistance here will be greatly appreciated.
