Hi guys I have wanted a fila for a while now but do to the circumstances me and my wife has decided a bullmastiff would be better for our family. Does anybody know of any reputable breeders in the south east that we could talk with? I live in south Carolina but am willing to drive a few states.

Here in sunny Florida, we have a lot of breeders. Most of our contacts are small hobby breeders (NOT backyard breeders!) who genuinely care about the breed. Two breeders listed on the Am. Bullmastiff Association site are:
Bandog Bullmastiffs, Gainesville FL.
Sandy Derksen & Louise Sanders have been heavily involved in the ABA for years. They both have many many championships behind their lines. Unfortunately, Bandog Bullmastiffs is no longer in existence. But both Sandy & Louise are still breeding, if I'm not mistaken. And their dogs are sound in conformation and temperament. The Bandog line got a little iffy, some of the dogs had dog on dog aggression issues. But the ladies have worked very hard & succeeded in breeding that trait out.

Patriot Bullmastiffs, Ridge Manor, FL
Jan Poulton is also very active in ABA. Although I don't care for the look of her line, they are very sound dogs.

Go to the Breeder Directory page for more info, like email addresses, etc.

I live with 4 bullmastiffs, and I can tell you that they are one of the best family dogs you could ever want. They're lazy, quiet, big goofy clowns. I hope you find just the right dog for your family. There's also rescue. A lot of dogs are looking for a forever home; sometimes there are puppies available.

BTW I meant to tell you that the avatar you see next to my name is Deedee(RIP), one of the last Bandog Bullmastiffs. She was 10 years old in that pic. Droopy face & muscles, but still a very fine, noble bitch. She was a grand champion before she was 2 years old.
