Hi guys!
My fiance and I got our new 2.5 month old CC/Fila mix little girl about a week ago. Up until today she was doing well with crate training, but this morning we woke up and saw that she had pooped in her crate (we have been calling her accidents "blowouts" lol) so after her "blowout" this morning she only went poop one other time and it was like a goose, the poor little girl. I am concerned we are not feeding her enough because of the small amount of poop every day.
She weighs about 20 lbs and she is almost three months old. All of the feeding guides say 2 cups per day so thats what we have been giving her.
What do you guys think??

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Ill work on getting some pics on here. I honestly think she looks really good, she has a "perfect figure" as in what she looks like from the side. I think she got really excited with her outing to petsmart and then being at grandmas house for a couple hours. Her foster mom had been feeding her science diet large puppy formula and we have been working on switching her to Fromm but since adding more of that food her stool has gotten softer. I am thinking maybe trying something other than chicken, and grain free?

Sable.jpgThis is the only pic I could find of her whole body, from the side she looks perfect, but I think from the top she gets a little skinny towards her butt, is that normal?

Well start deciding on a food. Grain free is your best bet.
Also get some pumpkin pie filler in the can. And get a ice tray. Fill with the pumpkin and freeze. I myself just take a bag and out the ice cubes in and finish the can. You are gonna take a pumpkin ice cube, thaw for each feeding.

Pumpkin is a fiber that does 2 things for the body, if the stool is to hard it helps to soften, if to soft I helps to firm. Natural and easy on the body.

Start the pumpkin now while problems are starting, and allow the body to start to get regular. Then while you go to start the new food you will have it easier on the body. It will take about a week to transition to the new food.
4 feedings - 1/4 of new to 3/4 of old = 1 cup
4 feedings - 1/2 of new to 1/2 of old
4 feedings - 3/4 of new to 1/4 of old
So if you are feeding twice daily this should add up to 6 days.

I would start here and let the forum know .. Looking forward to photos

If you are feeding old food now leave at amount you are feeding when you add in the none grain so see in about a week of what she looks like

We are going to get some pumpkin pie filler at the store when we go, that is awesome advice! Thanks! Ill let you know how she does with it. No accidents today at all! And I impressed because it is -7 here in Minnesota, she runs out, and runs back in after she is done with her business lol

Make sure it's pure pumpkin not the kind used for baking. Also be careful with how much you give because too much pumpkin can also cause diarrhea.

Good news, she went poop OUTSIDE today, and her stool is much better! Woo hoo!
I can't believe what we talk about on this forum, it cracks me up sometimes. I feel like I am surrounded by my nursing friends at work lol
