Florida Bullmastiff Breeder ??

Recently had to euthanize my 8 yr old pal, Tank.

Great dog. Adopted him through rescue. Considering rescue or possibly breeder for my next dog.

Rescue as these dogs need a home. Breeder as I really want a bullmastiff that is all bullmastiff as opposed to some mix which does occur with some rescue dogs.

Anyway, ABA site lists Bandog and Patriot as breeders but both sites seem to be inactive?

I have found some other breeders in the central Florida area. I will not name them as I do want to flame anybody. You can find them if you are so inclined.

My concerns are as follows;

1. they say nothing about OFA or other health testing. Is this a red flag?

2. They state only cash. No check even if check clears. Only cash ! Red flag? Is this to prevent a paper trail if you have a problem?

3. They have what appear to be identical contract s.

4. Not looking to start a war but they make a very big deal about their religious beliefs and " all glory to..."

Not a hater but does this belong on the site. Seems to be some disconnect between their love of man etc and the cash only policy.

I found a similar type reference from another breeder not in Florida

" All this said, we give all credit and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ, because without His direction and His approval we are nothing and the work of our hands will not be blessed. Whether the pup is perfect in conformation for showing or breeding or not, the pup is still needing and worthy of LOVE in a good home.

We are thankful how the Lord uses these dogs to show us parts of our lives that need improvement. It teaches our children responsibility. Our dogs are a part of our every day lives. They take up a large part of our day with feeding, walking, training in the morning and doing it all over again in the evening. When we are whelping someone is with the pups and mom CONSTANTLY for the first two weeks of their life. It is a major commitment. Plus, they enjoy following us through the house as we carry out our day."

Again i am not a hater just wondering why these references to Jesus? Are they appealing to a certain segment of potential buyer?

If the puppy is sound religion is not an issue for me.

The 2 breeders in Florida DO give a "health guarantee" for 2 years but again no mention of testing. of parents.

My puppy will not be a breeder or show dog but i'd like to know the dog is sound or at least as sound as can be determined via lineage and testing.

Am i asking too much?

Any advice is appreciated.

Oh yes I would pay more for a "better" puppy but have concerns about breeders that charge top dollar and provide little info about lineage or health testing/registry such as OFA info.

Thanks for listening.

Bandog is active, we just got a pup from them. Sandy & Louise have issues with posting health tests on OFAA, I don't know why. Louise is very old fashioned; she's been with bullmastiffs for over 30 years. Their "picks" are co-owned by friends & family they trust, and most co-owners health test the dogs before breeding. All of their dogs are inspected by the top breeding specialist veterinarian in the state, and her opinion is highly valued. If you're concerned about health testing, I totally understand. I have issues too, although I love their line. You can contact them through their Facebook page.
There are many adult bullmastiffs in Florida that need homes. I'm amazed at the number of dogs in the mastiff family that are given up, after spending a lot of money purchasing them. Even BYB bm's are not cheap. American Bullmastiff Association Rescue Service (ABARS for short) can help you find the perfect adult that needs a home, if you prefer to bypass the puppy stage. ABARS is very particular about evaluating their rescues; I'm pretty sure that almost all of them are purebred, and they will not/can not accept aggressive dogs in the program. We have one of their rescues, too. Ally is a permanent foster; she came to us severely visually impaired, diabetic, bald from thyroid issues, and HW+. Two different vets estimated her at 10 years old. That was 2 1/2 years ago. She's now fat, VERY sassy, and working on getting all the love she probably never had for the first 10 years of her life.

I'm sorry; I didn't address the issue you have with referencing religious beliefs on breeders' web pages. I don't know who these breeders are, but I would be put off by these words too, even though I'm a devout Christian. I don't think it's appropriate to state your religious beliefs on a web site, advertising your dogs. If you're interested in their line maybe you can skirt the religious issue when you contact them, unless they ask you questions about your faith. Then I guess you would have to decide if getting one of their dogs is worth it.

I do not know what location you are in Florida but if you are looking for an excellent breeder I would recommend Jenkins family Bullmastiffs. Here is the link : http://bullmastiffpuppybreeder.com/

We got titan from them and they are absolutely wonderful. We go over there on some weekends and let titan play, it is alot of fun. They will go above and beyond to help or answer any questions. We actually just spent the day over there today lol. You can see pics of titan on Instagram @bullmastiff_titan
