Euro vs America Dogo

Hopefully I dont ruffle any feathers just want to open the doors of dialogue. I have noticed or maybe its just me but does the euro dogo look different from dogos from the americas? If so is there just a difference in preferred look because the dogos from the americas appear to be built for performance and euro built for show (thick base, shorter muzzle).

Euro Dogo are mainly guard and protection animals! So they are bred larger to be more intimidating. Dogos are docile by nature, however, they pack a huge punch! Larger Dogo= larger punch! The euro dogos seems to have some Great Dane crosses to up the size.

American Dogo comes in 5 varieties. Just depending on your needs... Or wants.
1st variety being the 1st generation imports purchased from Ulises 90 pounds some what hound-ish looking. No jaw structure or muscularity.. But still a nice looking dog overall.. And has more hunt and prey drive (only triggered in the presence of game!) than any of the others. With that said, they hunt better than most American dogs ! Hence the high demand! Very rare in its pure form.. However they are here and usually owned by the hog hunters. You have to be in the hog hunting circle to put eyes on one of these!
2nd variety is the is the Italian import "picadero" very muscular, pit bull lookalike highly aggressive dog! Very high demand as well but rare in the USA!
3rd variety is the Puerto Rican imports. There are more of theses in the USA because they are usually cheaper dogs because most contain the same bloodline and have the same look and performance as Ulises's dogs. Which explains the reason for the polarity, more bang for your buck!
4th variety show dogs. Very pretty. Long neck., well defined head (boxer like)! These are usually larger 120+ pound dogs. There is much hoarding on these dogs because of the demand for the hunting Dogo.. Hunters will not buy these because they are usually crossed withs something to give them their looks and size. Plus you never know if you ar getting a sorry dog( will not hunt) or a aggressive, temperamental dog due to the crossed breeding! These dogs are sold for 2x the price that Ulises ask for a dog= The real reason hunter shy away from them!!!!! Too expensive to loose in a hunt!!! These dogs often have Ulisies paperwork, however, they lack his looks. When I say looks, you should know I'm referring to conformation and general appearance of the dog !
5th variety of Dogo. The most popular and wide spread. Often these are some the best looking examples you will see.. These are the Ulisies hunting dogs offpring that the hunters have imported to the USA . Non papered, crossed with everything that you can imagine. The usual cross are the American bulldog, then the pit bull, and finally, some type of cur cross. They are highly popular with low budget hunters. These are the dogs that you see everywhere. 150$- 350$ dogs with just enough Dogo attributes to make them a prize to own. Plus the low budget hog hunter gets to say that they have a Dogo. Yeah right!

If you don't know who ulises is, then a Dogo is not the dog for you. They make excellent couch potatoes, but I promise you it would rather be out hunting... Just let it out and see for yourself. Dogos aren't pit bulls and do not act like them. Dogos will fight! Dogo will hunt! Dogos will prey on almost any wild game! They are best describe as the Jekyll and Hyde of the dog world. When you see a highly muscled up Dogo, realize that it may not be what it appears. Dogos are purpose breed to hunt and survive in the deserts or South America. It's super hot there! MUSCLE MAKE HEAT! Thus the reason for the lack of muscularity in true Dogo. . Even though they may not be bulky, these dogs are super strong. This is why people like them. With that, the usual USA mentality kicks in... Bigger = stronger! This is why you get the different appearances.. To each his/ her own.. Get the type that you like and enjoy one of the best and smartest dogs that you ever own! Sorry for the long post.

I guess I should explain my experience. My Chuy is out of Exodus and a polish import. Exodus is from Argentina. I had a lacoacha bitch I got from a guy that would go to Argentina and hunt. His fb page had pic of him and ulysses (sp)...as a dogo she was a cull , as a dog she was a cull. Not aggressive ,smart..but just a bad dog for many personal resons....some mans cull is another mans prize....I have had more stories of bad dogos from Argentina than I care to speak of...its not the region where dogs come from, nor the kennel...its the combination of lots of many variables that can quickly change

Dogo guys only

I read the post from the link, good information, but I’d say, they are not bred for protection but are naturally protective of their people if threaten but not of a homestead. Looking back in history ......
