dogo or pit bull?

He came from the shelter, dumped because he's 100% deaf. I work inRescue, so we pulled him, since I've always wanted a dogo. 4 months old, 34 lb.
His ears seem a little high to be dogo, but the rest of him is spot on. Not a single patch of black, just spots of skin pigment. Attaching pictures. Thoughts?

4 months and 34 pounds leaves me to believe that he is going to be way bigger than a pit bull. My full grown APBT female is 56 lbs and she's a pretty solid girl.

He is absolutely adorable though, I love the super high ears.

I see Dogo and Pittie and he's such a cutie patootie! Love his freckled belly!

If you were to dock his ears, he would probably look more Dogo but his snout is Pittie. IMO, his ears give him character just the way they are.

What a cutie!!!

We have a member raising a well-adjusted deaf dane pup, if you need any help on that end. She's a marvelous example!

He has some big mastiff-sized paws there... so I'd say more than just pittie in there, too.

he is adorable!!!

thank you so much for saving him!
he looks like a mix, hard to tell of what in pics.
my friends female pups were 51 and 52 lbs at 4 months
then 63 and 64lbs at 5 months(pics included). could be
Pit Bull American Bulldog or Dogo Pit Bull mix, like I said
hard to tell.

Thanks guys! He's definitely in the small side then, and his ears definitely aren't right according to those puppy pictures you posted.

No I won't crop his ears! They're his hood ornaments! I do think it's odd that he's completely deaf if he's a mix. Doesn't that normally get rid of the recessive genetic issues like deafness? He doesn't even respond to the clicker right next to his ear- leading me to think his inner ear isn't properly formed---- deafness in mixes is unusual, especially since he's so highly pigmented! Normal skin pigment is usually linked to hearing... Any ideas?

we see lots of deaf pups/dogs in the mixes of Dogos, Pit Bulls, Boxers and American Bulldogs.
Dogos have sadly become very popular with mixing with Pits and AB's. we see a ton in rescues.

have a friend that has a deaf black Lab, he was born deaf. the pups above had a deaf pup in their
litter and he had the first nose to go completely black, lip liner and a little eye liner. so lots of
pigmentation.
