Dog is Ready to Be Bred

Well...Daisy is day 9 in her second heat and ready to be bred. My lab (who is neutered) was humping her leg just this morning. So off to pick up a stud to breed her just because no planning should go into these things.

Okay, just kidding. Wanted to see a few heads explode. LOL. :p

She is in heat though and yes, Petey still thinks he's a stud dog, but there will be no breeding. Eyes have been cerf cleared but we still need to do hips, elbows and a few other tests before we give the all clear for breeding. Anyone want a dog for a few weeks, she is being very amorous to my husband and driving him nuts. He thinks it is disgusting when she red flags him. I don't help because I will tease him about it.

Anyway, if anyone's head exploded, I will help clean up the brains.

lol the title was certainly an eye catcher! My pup is 4 1/2 months, and because of all the information I've learned from this site and the research I've done she won't be getting spayed until older....but oh my.....how I dread what's coming up :(

Who wouldn't want cute "Mastidors"! My husband and I joked about this, since we're getting a male EM and my mother in law is looking to breed her black lab (with another lab of course). Accidents happen since we want to keep our male in tact for a while. We'll just have to not bring him over for visits when the lab is in heat. But when we thought of what a labXmastiff cross would be called we died when I yelled out "mastidor"! Hahaha..... good luck with your girl in heat.

You know that's a real term for that cross, right? LOL Close anyway, Mastador. :)

I didn't think it was an actual desired cross. Come to think of it I don't doubt that.... mastadors. Goldendoodle, Daniffs.... I just can't comprehend the mix and match mentality of cross breeds. I understand some would be beneficial to a particular person just not sure about the whole designer breed thing. Eh....

To the OP ... just because your dog has CERF, hips, elbows, etc. does not mean they're of sufficient breed type to warrant being bred.

Enter your dog in some conformation shows, talk to some Mastiff judges, etc. ... and then really really listen when they tell you the good and bad ... and don't just assume that whatever weaknesses your dog has will be easy to fix.

Have super high standards --- it's the only way our breed will be better tomorrow than it was today. :)
