  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Curious what everyone is feeding their Bullmastiffs.

Mo has been having some skin issues lately and I'm thinking about changing his food. He's on Ultra, lamb and brown rice puppy formula right now. He's 13 months old and I've been thinking about changing him over to an adult mix.
Thought I'd ask what everyone else has been using.

Thanks

Oh, shoulda mentioned can't do RAW. We camp quite a bit during the summer and it's just not possible to keep his food refrigerated.

Thanks

You'll find more info in the Health & Nutritional Care Thread. Lots of discussion.

My 11 month old BM has been on Adult Large Breed Food all his life. Started with Fromms Gold and now on Earthborn Holistics Meadow Feast.

Generally, mastiffs are allergic to grain and chicken found in kibble. You can check www.dogfoodadvisor.com for dog food ratings and customer feedback. Mastiff puppies should eat Large Breed puppy food and they can continue to eat the food all of their lives or you can switch them to a Large Breed Adult Food at about 8-10 months.

Check out Acana Regionals, Wellness Core, Earthborn Holistics, Fromm*s or Taste of the Wild. Chewy.com is a great place to order dog food.

If your pup is not allergic to chicken in kibble, then you have lots of options.
If he is, you may want to try a fish based kibble. Acana, Orijen, TOTW, Eartborn Holistic, FirstMate and Fromm all have one.
Since you are already feeding lamb, that's the route I would go.

We are feeding Belle our 17 month old 100lb. female Bullmastiff Earthborn Holistic Meadow Feast for the past 11 months. When we first got her at 3 months old we fed her BLUE Freedom Grain-Free Chicken Recipe but it didn't agree with her stomach

We started on Orijen Large Breed Puppy food before I found this site and he had all sorts of skin issues. After meeting with the breeder when our pup was 9 months old we put him on Natures Domain Salmon and Sweet Potato and he has done very well on it.

Even though Dozer is almost 15 months old, I still have him on Taste of the Wild, Pacific Stream Puppy formula because the numbers – protein, fat, calcium and phosphorous – are where I want them. He’s been on it since we brought him home and never had any issues, skin or otherwise. He’s also grown at a much steadier pace without the significant growth spurts that our other two BMs who were fed other brands went through. I’ll be switching him to adult formula in a few months.

I feed Orijen 6 fish, and haven't had a problem with it. My puppy has been growing at a nice steady pace of about 3 lbs per week since he's been 7 weeks old (now 30 weeks).

I am going to try rotating between the Orijen 6 Fish and Orijen Regional Red pretty soon.
