My inlaws found their new dog. She's not a chow. Unfortunately the budget just wasn't there for a pup from a breeder, and, well, see my previous rant about rescues for why that wasn't happening.
Coco was hit by a car in the city of Syracuse almost exactly 4 weeks ago, and turned into a local animal hospital for care when no owners stepped forward. Although I suspect the owner may have been unofficially IDed as the hospital had an awefull lot of data on her background. At any rate, although no bones were broken in the accident apparently her internal injuries were bad enough that it was touch and go for the first two weeks. But they pulled her through and put her up for adoption where my Inlaws found her:

She's a year old. Listed as a "pit mix", and is a liver brindle in color. I didn't get her weight, but she's just barely knee high on me, so not big. She was spooky when we first got there (see the tucked tail in the first two pictures), but by the time we were getting ready to leave I was apparently not allowed to do so as she'd draped herself, very firmly, across my lap. Listed as good with cats and kids and other dogs, she did fine with my niece and nephew and wasn't interested in doing more than touching noses with their cats. We've not introduced her to any of the family's dogs yet, we want her to settle in a bit, and then my pair of nut balls will be the LAST ones she meets....
