Chew bone and or puzzle toy he can't destroy?

Here comes the age old question...

I got Major (7 bull mastiff) some more toys to keep him busy this week.

He got a large Nylabone Durachew that was peanut butter flavored and he LOVED it. He took it into his crate, laid down, and just calmly chewed on it.

After a few minutes I checked on him and there was some blood on the toy- he was chewing into it and cutting his gums.

So...that got confiscated. I'm looking for a replacement item. Something he can chew on in his crate before bed.

I also bought him a disc shaped puzzle toy. You fill it with little treats and as his spins it and moves it around it will shake a treat out. He also loves that - but once the treats are gone he decided to chew on that too. The plan for that was to distract him w/ treats for a while whne I leave to help with anxiety. But I don't want him eating plastic or cutting his mouth if I leave him with it.

Any suggestions would be great!

My Dane really likes gonuts: Pet Supplies : Pet Chew Toys : GoughNut Black : Amazon.com. We also got this tuffy about a week ago and it seem to be holding up ok, but he only gets it at work, so it hasn't seem the abuse the gonuts have: Pet Supplies : Pet Chew Toys : Tuffy Ultimates Ring Dog Toy, Red Paws : Amazon.com.

We also do raw bones, kongs, and jolly ball toys. He loves soft toys, but he rips them up pretty quickly so he is always supervised with those.

Ya he has the Kong and he likes that okay if there's stuff in it- I think he LOVED the nylabone because it was flavored.

I'd like something to hold his interest with taste.

Can you clarify what you're meaning with "raw bones"?

My girls do not like the nylabones and I got the flavored ones. They can be picky. What they do love is ice cold carrots...depending on the size it can keep then busy for half an hour or so but it is a bit of a mess when they are done, and they love the antler chews but those are a bit expensive. They also love ice cubes.

I'd guess "raw bones" means just that... a raw beef bone from the grocery store. Some of the leg bones can be HARD though, so you might want to avoid those, as they can break teeth. Non-weight bearing bones are good options (i.e. ribs), or leg bones from smaller animals (i.e. lamb), and joints, like knuckles have some good stuff (cartlidge), too.

Denna has a tuffy ring - which is at least halfway unstuffed now... she also has rope toys, but those are only fun when someone pulls on the other end.

Her favorites for sit-down chew time are the antlers, stuffed kongs and stuffed busy-buddy toys.

We have a buster food cube, which is pretty indestructible and dispenses food as the dog rolls it around. Fun as long as the food hold out. We don't use it much, though, as it's a loud toy when the kibble is rattling around inside.

I give my dogs beef bones that are frozen. I buy them from the grocery store and they are the same ones that they cut into little pieces and sell for making broth or soup (marrow bones). I have them cut the 10 inch (approx) bone in half once and I pay about $1.70 a pound. A 40$ case lasts me about 3 weeks for 2 dogs. They are controversial because they can break teeth. My lab broke one of his canine tips and has worn several others a bit. My EM gets one every day and I give it to them frozen so it lasts longer. They happily chew for hours. Usually getting them clean through and through. Neither of my dogs have chewed shoes, woodwork, doors or anything else inappropriately. I toss the bone in the after a day or two. Even once they are cleaned out, they will chew them for hours!
If your boy likes to destroy things, try a cardboard box! Max's favorite thing is a cardboard box. He is allowed to tear it into shreds and the bigger, the better. Then we spend a few minutes cleaning it up. It's a win-win situation.

My Em, Indy isn't the most destructive chewer, but can still do some damage over time. We have used Tuffy Toys for him for a couple of years and have had good luck with their toys rated 8 and 9. We recently adopted a 50 lb, year and a half old bulldog, tho who in a league all his own! Ollie is like a baby great white with fur! Just discovered a toy that is actually holding up to "destructo boy" shockingly well! It's made by West Paw Design Zogoflex and they have these strangely shaped and named("tux" "bumi", "tizzi", "hurley") toys that are amazingly durable, can be stuffed with treats, can interlock with each other, and have been keeping them both entertained for prolonged periods. I highly reccommend them!

Kong is the only thing I've found my guys can't destroy, my female ripped her joly ball in half, but it did last quite a while, I've never stuffed their kongs because they love em as is, they chew them for hours sometimes
