  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Cherry but it pop back in.

So long story short got back from the park yesterday n it looked like she had a cherry I I freak out calling all my vet friend. Well as I was calling everyone she fell asleep n opened her eyes n it was GONE!!! Is that normal?! I shouldiI still be worried it could happen again n get it removed now?! Or wait. Everyone telling me to just get the surgery. I'd rather not give her eye surgery if I don't have to.

Hi I am brand new to the forum but I do have some Cherry experience, my 11month old Neapolitan had to have both eyes done, at first it seemed that they would subside and look normal for awhile but then they simply remained. Surgery went very well and no complications! Unfortunately my poor baby has just been diagnosed with Wobblers and probable spinal surgery. Hope to find some advice around the forum, good luck to you!

My previous CC had cherry eye was not aware that it retracts itself but our surgery was a little less expensive with pet insurance you might want a follow up appointment to ensure its ok or grab some pet insurance quickly. Good luck and I hope our new puppy does have this issue.

It isn't abnormal to have in a mastiff breed, and it can retract and come out for a while but I suspect that at some point it will just continue to stay out and you will have to look at either the tacking or removal surgery. Be aware that murphy's law is you will no sooner get one fixed and the other one will likely come out shortly after.

I had two dogs with it. Tacking worked with one, they tried that first cause it's not surgery. My other dogs eyes un-tacked as soon as they could, so it was surgery as the other option. every thing went fine.

Tacking doesn't always work. I have heard more often of it not working than of people having good experience. If you ask most breeders that deal with it often enough they will tell you to have it removed from the start. That being said there are not a lot of vets that will remove from the start. They are taught to tack first so if you have the issue and your breeder advises it you will have to probably search for a vet that will remove.
