Fellow pet parents, did you know it’s National Dog Day!? We know, you celebrate your pup everyday you’re with him or her, but today is the day to really show them just how much love and joy they bring to your life! So, today, together, let’s all take at a moment (or in our case much longer than that!) to acknowledge and praise the furry ones in our lives who play with us, make us laugh, keep us safe, and even save lives.
All your pup wants from you is love; they want your attention, they want to hear your voice, they want you to pet them, and they want you to show them the way. Really take that to heart today -- do those things for them and then some. Teach them something new today, buy them a new toy and play together, make their walk extra interesting today -- embrace them in a way you haven’t before. Get them excited for National Dog Day by showing them how much fulfillment they bring you.
While National Dog Day is about celebrating the lives of our dogs at home, it’s also to honor those who haven’t yet made it to theirs. A big focus of the day is to bring attention to the unfortunate circumstances so many beautiful souls find themselves in. Even more, to encourage the adoption of those animals -- no matter the age, breed or mix. So, if you do have the chance today, maybe take a moment to help out one of the shelters in your neighborhood. At the very least, always opt for adoption, and encourage those around you to do the same when they consider adding a furry friend to their family.
National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert and Animal Advocate, Colleen Paige, also the founder of National Puppy Day, National Mutt Day and National Cat Day and many more philanthropic days.
