Cane Croso mistaken for a Pittbull?

I was once told by a woman that it was sad that people like me who are uneducated on bully breeds would have 2 males in the same house that would eventually kill eachother. The 2 dogs being a CC mix and a purebread (with papers) Rhodesian Ridgeback. I laughed at her and said "Not to ASSume anything about my education on dogs. And that it amazed me that someone with such knowlege about bully breeds would mistake a RR for a bully breed dog". I love knowitalls!!

Have to admit Im glad my dog is not the only one getting mistaken for another breed, I can take that my CC gets mistaken for a pit, but last friday during Juno's carting training a person told me that pulling the cart was making my weimaraner look too muscular and deformed... honestly, just remembering that makes my head ache.

My CC is miniature (85lb) because she has a liver issue, but I've been asked/told SEVERAL times "Is she a boxer mix?" Yes, a boxer-mix - not even a full boxer. No no, she's a Mastiff. The closest I've ever gotten was a BullMastiff, which actually made me kind of proud. When my Eurasier was a pup, he was mistaken for a TM pup ALL the time, simply because he's black and tan and furry.

Because mine has the floppy ears and he is still a puppy, we get asked if he is a boxer or a boxer mix. My husband realy wants his ears done, but he is 4 months old and still needs neutered. I don't want him put uner 2 times in one month. I really wish he had them already done so i don't feel bad.

I have to disagree lol.
I don't think I have ever been asked if Black Jack was a boxer or a pit, I get asked if he is a mastiff, then what kind.
Aurora has been called a pit before, but it doesn't phase me. I think it would bother me more if everyone knew what hey were, I do have a relatively rare breed. The more I get "is that a Kane/King Korso? My buddy got one off some guy on 22x" the sadder I get for my breed. Many times after looking at the guy that calls out "hey that's a sick pittie" I just smile say thanks and keep walking ;)
I would be delighted if someone asked me if my dog was a Kane/King Corso - granted she's really small for her size, our last one was a lot bigger, but still - she is not a 'boxer mix'. I've never gotten pit but unfortunately no one ever gets Cane Corso. I honestly can't blame them for saying "Kane/Cane" because AKC just accepted them as a breed a few years ago and the pronunciation came right around that time. When we got our first Corso 8-9 years ago, we didn't know calling it a Cane Corso "Kane" was bad. When I heard it during the dog shows pronounced Kah-Ne I was actually surprised. Regardless - I have a miniature mastiff that is mostly considered a boxer mix by most general public people. I just keep reminding myself that when our first Corso was a puppy people often asked "Oh your full grown lab is beautiful!" - um, no ma'am - she's a 4 month Cane Corso Mastiff, but thanks.

The correct pronunciation has always been there, it is simply dog in Italian :) I do not mind people not knowing how to say it to be honest, it is simply how it is written. It is usually the people saying it that get me. I don't correct really, I say it properly back to them, if they are truly interested in learning about the breed. Most however are not. They just want a big bad ass dog and don't care where it is from or how it was bred.

0:06 right pronunciation of "Cane Corso" inItalian... At least that's what it sounds like here in Italy

I got a new one yesterday. I was passing a school whose teams are the bull dogs when one of the parents watching practice told me that I needed to stay so that my bull dog could be the mascot. Now I'm not sure if I own a 160lbs 31' tall bull dog or a red long haired one.
