Hello my name is Sean. I am going to be a new owner of a male cane corso mix with presa canario. More about the two breeds being mix. Can anyone tell me more about the two together?

Hello I am getting a cane corso mix with presa canario, I also wanted to know if it would get alone with a small yorkie around the house?

Where are you getting this dog? From a breeder? I'd be pretty leery of anyone who is mixing CCs and Presas. I'm assuming the parents have no titles and no temperament testing? Recipe for disaster.

And no, I wouldn't trust any large dog unsupervised with a toy breed. They should be watched or separated by crates or gates at all times.

This guy that breeds them in Canada. I'm not sure about the temperature testing, I am doing research on both type of dogs now. This will be my first time owning one. My father has a CCs and presas but I haven't spent and time with it...

I figured they should not be unsupervised with a toy dog.

I just can't see why someone would want to mix a Presa and a CC. If you like CCs, get a CC. If you like Presas, get a Presa. If you like qualities of both, then go look for a breed that has the qualities you like.

Anyone breeding Presa/CC mixes is a backyard breeder and is part of the reason shelters are overpopulated with unwanted, poorly bred dogs. Especially with a breed like a Presa, I would NOT mess with someone who is not temperament testing and reputably breeding proven stock.

What brought you and the puppy together? Were you looking for this mix for some reason? Is the breeder advertising some special trait from this breeding/mix??

Just curious how you found the puppy, and what drew you two together...

As for big puppies and small dogs... make sure they have lots of good, positive interactions together when the puppy arrives - let the older dog set the boundaries, and support the older dog's position (puppies can push older dog's buttons and try their patience). Step in anytime YOU think it's getting dangerous or uncomfortable, and YOU set the limits on play... as long as the puppy respects the older dog's space and rules, they should be fine.

But... yeah, no unsupervised time until you are 100% sure they're safe to be together. A big dog can do a lot of damage just by being a silly puppy - without intent to harm.

I do not know of anyone responsible breeding these two breeds together. There is no way to predict what they will be like together.

Ok people calm the heck down. So dam quick to point fingers.
First it is going to be a big dog. I have both breeds and like both.
In my experience the corso is going to by more of a alert sweetheart. Where the pressa is more aloof but a power house. I can't tell you how the pups are going to be. NO ONE CAN AND IF THAT TELL YOU THERE FULL OF S***. Thay may look like there dad but act like there mom. Or visa versa. Or come out retarded. With out having a long list of pedigree it's a crap shoot. All I can say is both breeds are smart, very strong and need a owner that is responsible! ! Good luck..

Really. People are so quick to judge. Regardless of the breeding. Be patient and consistent. You basically have a bandog. Both cane corsos and presas are essentially recreated breeds anyway. With the presa being more civil (human aggressive) in nature

If you socialize extensively. Exercise adequately and are calm patient and consistent. You will develop a calm manageable dog. The same principles hold true for both breeds.

Expect adolescent push back and a an adult attitude around 18-24mo.

Both can be rank driven and assertive. Both will be protective.

You can do this.
Pure bred dogs were once intentional crosses in the first place.

And most of these newly popular molossers are recreations as well.

Love and respect your dog.
Love and respect other dog owners.

Watch that prey drive on both ends. I've seen presas grow up with chiweenies and they were fine.

Be diligent. And watch for potential conflict.

It isn't quick judgement, both of these breeds are facing temperament issues among other things and rescues are getting hit hard. I have no issues with a true bandog program, bred with purpose for the dogs and following the same protocols that responsible breeders use to screen their stock like health testing and checking temperament to ensure they are not breeding unstable dogs.

Supporting people who are just throwing the breeds together with no goal/plan in mind to me is no better than getting from a BYBer or irresponsible breeder, both of which are causing nothing but problems in these breeds and for the rescues/shelters dealing with the outfall.

I do agree. People do tend to cross breed dogs they think are hard or cool. I just want to make sure we don't make the OP a target due to their breed choice or place of acquisition of the dog.

They are seeking help and I doubt they will allow their dog to become shelter fodder.

I have a presa and a Cane Corso mix, socialization at. young age with people and dogs is a benefit. My dog is the most loving dog to people and almost ever dog ,children not. Problem he listens, he's intelligent ,can be a pain in the ass but well worth it you have the best of both worlds. It's all how you raise them in have had 3 pit bulls and not one of them were aggressive. Now my female tori was being picked on when she was less then a year by a Alaskan malamute and a timber wolf mix 85 percent timberwolf and 15 percent malamute it all came down to my peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I was sitting on my tailgate eating my lunch and this guy dog had been picking on my dog all day my dog was afraid of it but when it came up to grab my sandwich that was it and my f****** dog beat the s*** out of this 6-year-old Alaskan Malamute timberwolf broke his leg ripped his cheek off I mean it was nasty and I was trying to get him off the dog the whole time and I couldn't and I've never seen a dog that angry and I've never never trained it or wanted it to be that angry but I saw what it could do and I've had three of them and they've all been great dogs and this dog is better personality than all of them
