    Hi, can anyone help?

Hi everyone, I have scoured the internet for advice and finally decided to make an account here to see if someone can help. I have an amazing 8 month old Cane Corso puppy who had his ears cropped at about 10 weeks. For the most part, I have taped his ears as needed and the right ear is doing a pretty good job of standing. Over the last 6 weeks or so, the left ear has started to flop against the side of his head. It has always been the problem ear but previously it would flop on his head or stand. Currently, after removing the tape, the ear will stand for a few hours. But after he goes to sleep the ear will fall again. If I massage it a bit it will then stand again. Sometimes it goes for 6-7 hours as well. But generally speaking if he goes to sleep (he sleeps with that ear against the ground usually) it will be lazy and fallen. Has anyone had experience of dogs taking this long to get their ears erect or is it simply too late. Or any tips for me to try. I have hope because it still does stand sometimes but not that confident because he's 8 months and it's still having issues. I have attached some pics for reference. Please note that the pic with both ears falling is mostly what the left ear will look like while the right one stays standing. When standing, I have pics of that attached as well.

Look forward to hearing from you kind folk!

Welcome to the forum. It's been really quiet here, but hopefully you'll get better advice than I can give you. I'm not experienced with the shorter crops. I'm a boxer girl and they have the long show crop which can be very problematic, depending on the skill of the person that performs the procedure and the ear leather of the dog. Often it takes a very long time to get them to stand properly. Sometimes they never do. Massage is good and I would say to keep doing that frequently. What are you using to post? We have others on here that know more about posting the shorter crops than I do and I hope they see your post. In the meantime ... more pictures are always welcome.

    Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I usually just wrap his ears with hardwood tape as it comes off easy but also allows them to stand when taped. 2 days ago, the left ear actually was standing on it's own most of the time but today it fell again. I can't do posting with anything in his ears as he shakes like a maniac.

His crop is kind not short and not long either. But iv noticed he shakes his head when the ear is standing. If it falls be stops shaking. Or sometimes he shakes his head and gets it to stand and leaves it as such. It is extremely frustrating because just the decision to crop was so difficult for me as I didn't want to but I was advised by many breeders to do it.

I will try to get some more pics in the coming days and hope someone can help out.
