Brainstorming for our JDRF fundraising

We want to start early this year with ideas for fundraising for our JDRF One Walk to cure Type 1 Diabetes. Usually we solicit for cash donations, which are always good. This year we're thinking of asking for donations of items, gift cards, services, etc. as well. The idea is to hopefully have someone donate a venue, food, drinks, and we can have silent auctions for the goods. We also plan to have some things directly for purchase. I'm a crafty and creative person. I plan to make some tree of life dreamcatchers, gemstone dreamcatchers, some decorative outside planters maybe. Possibly some dog collars in various sizes. Of course I'd have to charge enough for the for sale items to cover the cost of supplies (my labor will be free), but anything above that would be donated. I will also be making soaps and other body products with packaging to match the team logo and name. Anyone have any other ideas for me?

Now here's what I really need help with. Our team name is The Voodoo Dolls. I don't have the picture of the logo on this computer, but there's a picture of it on my thread from last year located here

I need help picking some type of scent to make my custom products. I'm drawing a complete blank on what would be good for a Voodoo Doll soap, lotion, spray, and lip balm. The lip balm can be totally different as it must be safe for ingestion. Oh, and candle tarts. I can do those too. Help? The walk isn't until September, so I have some time. Thanks in advance.

Hmm. When I think of a voodoo doll the first thing that came to mind was purple. Maybe a violet or lavender scent. Or something musky. Maybe even lavender rose? Rose has thorns, makes me think of voodoo dolls. Or some “sharp” scent, maybe lemon lip balm? Now you have me thinking.... I like to be crafty too. Maybe I can come up with something to send you for the auction?

I was thinking along the same lines as you. My first thought for the soap was Dragonsblood, but it may be too masculine to appeal to everyone. Maybe I can do two scents. That would be great if you come up with something for the auction! No pressure and no commitment. For all I know this whole idea will be a bust. I just think it's a really good way to generate funds. I'm kind of excited. Thank you for the suggestions and keep them coming please!

I would say two scents.

You could go w something like strawberry or cherry (red)

Vanilla is always widely populsr and a safe bet but not on theme.

Rose was a great idea too w the thorns. Blackberries also have thorns

Oooo, one of my best sellers used to be my blackberry sage products. That might be just right. What about sandalwood vanilla and rose? I think dragonsblood would work for a manly scent. Maybe I'll also do my shaving soap in mugs, but not worry about theme. That one smells phenomenal all on it's own.

You guys have great thinking heads! That's what my daughter used to say when someone called her smart, lol.
