Boerboel puppy feeding question

I know, I know, I know....I'm full of questions lol. I had a talk with a very reputable boerboel breeder who suggested adult food over puppy (dry kibble) any idea why that'd be?

I've seen the final result, she has awesome, healthy dogs that live long lives. I was just curious.

Puppy food has too much calcium and protien for Boerboel puppies (most all mastiffs too). Feed an all stages or adult grain free food or better yet feed raw.

There's normally very little difference between most puppy-vs-adult foods... as Mike mentioned, calcium and phosphorus can vary (which is best kept VERY low for giant breeds), and also energy content (calories) can be high - which for low-key mastiffs isn't needed, either. You want your giant puppy to grow lean and slow... that's best for healthy joints and good muscle balance.
