Boerboel life span.

I have been reading 9 to 13 years. I m going to shoot for 15 plus with mine. The BB was considered one of the healthiest breeds in many years to come along as it was still a landrace breed with a good amount of Hybrid Vigor. It is hard to say now because so many cooks at the kettle are starting to ruin the breed with outside crosses and no health checks. If you get one try to find a breeder that believes in the old farm dog and not the Mastodon Mastiffs that are being pushed out today.

I already have my own BB. As for breeder it depends on where you are and are you willing to have one shipped.

I heard of a Breeder up there. But Fuller or Shombay Boerboels are good breeders. I will see what I can dig up for Canada.

Yep Proudfoot have a bunch of good looking dogs a good mix of farm type and large type and not trying to sell black ones. It would be a good place to start.

I see thanks, they are my fav breeder that I'm gonna choose whether I get a boerboel or not I really like the kennel, what about you, where are your boerboels from, how much do they weigh, I always thought a 25 inch dog 200lbs Is not very good.

Proudfoots stud Raydn is the father of my pup that I should be getting in about two weeks. Marcella the kennel owner is a wonderful, open person who will tell you the inside ond outside of her dogs from their flaws to their strengths. I would defiantly give her a shout, even if its just to get some info about her dogs and the breed.

I talked to her last year that's how I knew the kennel, she's a great lady. And has some nice dogs, you guys know the ideal weight range for a boerboel, most links are just telling me upwards of 150, which doesn't seem like the best weight, especially the breeders who are breeding 200 pound boerboels!!! What's with that??. I'm thinking between 130 - 160 lbs with the males being in the higher ranges, but I could be wrong.

No, I think you are about right on the weight. Although it can still be normal for a male to be even bigger, but still be athletic, I believe that Proudfoot Sako is around the 180lb mark, but super fit and athletic looking. Females I believe are around the 120-140lb my pups dam is 140lbs

im gonna get a rottweiler, think a boerboel would be great for me, but... Yeah i like the intimidating and powerful look of the rottweiler, i think it's a breed that would be easier to start off with, and i love the colour they have, i find it pretty amazing. Anyway guys thanks for all the help.
