Just wanted to 'show off' a little bit.
We took Zeus to the Darlington Champ Show (at Ripon) yesterday and he took Best Of Breed!! Whoo Hoo :D
Unfortunately he took my legs out in the middle of the best dog round and dislocated my damn knee AGAIN! Everyone rallied round and helped with handling him for the rest of the show though. Great to be in such a good TM community. :)

Sorry not really any pics from the show, I was a bit incapacitated. ;)
But these are a couple of recent photos of Zeus (on holiday in July).

yeah--your knee looks like royal sh*t.
Aside from a serious Dr visit, I'd be soaking in epsom salts daily if I were you.

I'm obviously slightly biased but he is damn handsome!
3rd dislocation in 18 months, bloody dogs. Managed about 28 years with only 5 dislocations before these 2 terrors appeared on the scene! I'm having an op on 18th December but had hoped I'd make it through to then without another incident. Am still seeing the physio from the last time it happened, sigh!

Looby- first, congrats on BOB! What a great win for the handsome boy. :)

Second, I can empathize on the knee dislocation thing-- i have had 3 surgeries to try and correct my own slippery kneecaps (age 11, 14, then 22). Not fun!

I thought all was well, until about 2 years ago I got caught between a skateboarder, a crazy man screaming, some barking, lunging little dogs and me carrying packages, with Mateo on leash. The perfect storm for a twist...and dislocation. After many years going without an incident...it seriously bummed me out. :(

Below is a pic after it happened. You may want to invest in a knee wrap to help stabilize the knee joint, and also will help with the swelling.

Good luck to you!

Thanks NYDDB. Ouch, your knee looked nasty too. Did they get to the underlying cause of why yours pops out? It's taken 3 arthroscopies and 2 MRI's for them to finally (I hope) find out what the issue is.
I have a thigh to ankle leg brace to wear for a couple of weeks when it happens and I've now got a 'sports' stabilizer which I will be wearing when I'm out with the dogs to feel a little bit more supported. The physio wasn't keen on me wearing it too much as the muscles wouldn't build back up but I think for the next few weeks I'll have to.

You know, this knee dislocation issue has plagued me since I was a kid (started at about age 9.) My right knee was the worst, but my left also slipped out of place on a semi-regular basis. Sometimes it would slip back in place, other times it would not...extremely painful!

Nobody else in my family has issues with their knees, or any joint for that matter. The best possible guess is that because I was born pigeon-toed, and had to wear steel corrective braces for awhile when I was a baby, that this somehow screwed up the alignment of my knee-caps (I am saying this because I read of another woman who had the exact same issue as a baby, then knee dislocation problems as an adult- her doctors believed this was the cause.)

All my surgeries have been full scalpel surgeries- no arthroscopies. The last one on my worst knee (right) they had to put in a permanent screw to realign the tendon to my tibia, making the "track" of my kneecap more centered. So far, so good-- and it's been a couple of decades.

But, even today, I have to be mindful, as my left kneecap (as in photo) will be prone to dislocate if the conditions are right. And, also, both knees are prone to arthritis, due to all the previous trauma.

Good times...

I am so familiar with braces and splints...but I would still wear the supportive wrap, at least when out with the dogs---it really does help!

All the best for strong knees in the future- keep me posted as to how things go. :)

Your op sounds exactly what I'm scheduled for in December! So far it's only my left knee I've ever had problems with. Apparently the groove on the end of my femur is way too shallow so my knee cap cant 'sit in' it. I'm too old (joy) for the ideal operation to make the groove deeper and am way too young for a new knee, lol.
I will post after my op to let you know how it's gone.
