Bladder Stones prevention

So my 15 month old Cane Corso just had surgery to remove bladder stones - I’m not sure what type of stones they are yet as I am awaiting test results.

I had my puppy on a raw diet from the moment I brought him home - he did amazing on it. Due to us having a baby on the way we decided to put him on a high grade kibble(which I watered down) anyways 3-4 months on kibble I noticed blood in urine…. Bladder stones formed and he needed surgery to remove since urine tests were not able to confirm stone type. I can’t help but think me switching him to a kibble has caused this issue. I am switching him back to a raw diet with no added supplements until I find out the type of stone. (It only makes sense as they definitely need to be on a moist diet in this situation)

My vet obviously recommended one of their commercial diets for urinary issues- after doing my own research I am not buying the idea of putting my dog on a low protein diet with lots of preservatives and chemicals as I feel this will only contribute to more bad than good down the road. I am also adding a supplement for urinary tract health to his water called urinary gold - (lots of reviews people swear by it, and I feel it won’t hurt to add something that will balance PH levels in a good way)

Has anyone else been through this situation ? I am nervous for the stones to come back as I’ve spent about $4,000 during this whole process. (Our first vet didn’t find stones and I was going through rounds of antibiotics, than she was 99 percent sure it was a prostate issue and he had to be neutered so I got a second opinion, paid for more tests and what not they found bladder stones)

Any advice or supplements that are proven to help stop reoccurring stones ?

Thank you…

My dog had to have surgery for this too. Once I switched my dog's food to Royale Canin (per my vet's recommondation) he never had an issue after that. He lived healthy until he was 18 years old (rip). Dog food with too much protein can cause this.
