Barn Hunt - Thalia

Thalia had her first barn hunt practice this morning.

She's a total natural, but I expected that because well, she is a bull terrier and gets a lot of enjoyment out of finding rats in our own barn.

She successfully located the rats and paid no attention to the incorrect tubes. She has no reservations about using the tunnel or climbing on top of the bales of hay.

I was encouraged to get her a barn hunt number and to continue practicing with her so that she can participate in the upcoming trials.

I'm very happy and proud of my baby girl. <3

Now, if only I could find a sport for Angus and I to do. The boy just has no drive.

Have you tried agility? It's hard to work dogs with low or no drive lol. Hector is kind of that way.

I have thought about agility for him. I'm not sure if he's too nervous though... I am going to do group OB classes to better bond with him (I feel like a bad, neglectful mom when I'm out working Thalia and he's just observing from the deck), working on his skills (obviously) and socialize. Hopefully, it will boost his confidence. Right now, I think he would be too nervous about going through a tunnel, up the A-frame or to jump through a hoop LOL. There will be only one way to find out!

Yeah working ob and playing will definitely help him trust you in situations that make him nervous. Yeah you never know, he might impress you!
