  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

UPDATE!

Alright, Ares is 7 months so we are updating.
We've got sit, lay down, and stay as known commands, although stay can be a little hard for him, we still practice it everyday, about 5 times if not more. His excited sit has decreased but he is still excited to come it, so there is a little scooting.

He gets a walk every day, where we walk, and then randomly sit and lay down, trying to make him use more energy. He has started to lift his leg to pee (I heard some don't) his tail is pretty curled (German shepherd trait) fur still thick, and long, sheds a lot. Very interested in pleasing, but tries to push boundaries, so we stay strict. Absolutely no aggression, no mouth play, no food aggregation, no issues with our older unclipped male boxer.

Size wise he is MUCH bigger than our boxer now, tall, and long. He's about 80-85 pounds.
Still extremely sweet, but has definitely become more confident. I think his fear stage has passed, he no longer barks at other humans or dogs on walks. The only thing he's afraid of is the water hose haha. Wasn't even bothered by the fireworks, but we still kept them inside as much as possible just incase.
Ok pictures!

He is a people pleaser, but also needs to work on manners. He's much bigger than our boxer so hell push his way in front and he also begs for attention from guests, because he has to do a command from me or dad to get love. We always tell the guests they can pet him but he has to follow a command. With the kids though, he is so aware of his size, very gentle, always lays down for their attention and playing.

Ares is looking good. Remain consistent in training and he'll get it. People seem to think training is only for a few months but it lasts a lifetime.

Yes he is presa/Shepard mix. He was an oops breeding. Pups were being given away for free, and then taken to a shelter. At first they thought it was a neighbors black lab, but the vet thinks it's most likely a German shepherd. As he's grown we can see both presa and Shepard in his appearance. His fur is long and thick, with the soft fluff deep down. His tail is very long, thick and curled. And his ears are very shepherd. His face looks very presa, and as he grows we will see how that fills out. His body is very cat like haha high back hips, which is presa.
His temperament is very loyal, alert, abd confident. Has a very deep loud bark. He jumps over our boxer like a cat would when getting out of the way. It's kinda cool.

the lifting leg thing is weird for me because mine won't and is male but my german sheppard mix would and was female. the stay is a tough one for how stubborn they are. i used a treat in hand in front of face and extend arm to side and try to keep focus on face by using other arm like a traffic guard would to try to stop someone and say stay. if focus is on you, good stay and treat. then stay again and try to walk backward keeping focus on face again. once you start to get out of sight eventually good luck because they always want to be around.

I'm pretty patient about the stubborness, but still stern. He's overall a very good boy. But man, the stubborness is hard nut to crack.. testing always testing..
Yea he just started lifting maybe 2 weeks ago. I think he got it from our male boxer who marks the yard like crazy (obviously because of Ares). Haha
