I used to paint dogs, cats, horses. But now I've been asked to give lessons, so I am broadening my subject matter - going outside my comfort zone. I'm painting landscapes, seascapes, and most recently I'm working on a male nude (well, almost nude) study. I've never painted portraits of people before and it's very challenging to me.
Anyone else paint? What are your subjects? What frustrates you most about a subject? What's the most challenging?
I use alkyd oils which dry in a day. I like being able to work daily on a painting until I finish it.
Here are a few of my favorite paintings. Would love to see others.
Got another question for you painters -Does the smell of the paint or mineral spirits get to you? I can only seem to deal with it for 2 hours at a time. (Even with windows open and fan on.)
