Well we got our first mastiff about 9yrs ago. Budda was his name. We thought he was a english mastiff mix the whole time we had him. Best dog ever. Truely mans best friend. Well he got some very large tumors at about 7yrs old and we had to put him down. Hardiest thing in the world for me and something I still aint got over.

Well after a little time we decided to get another mastiff for our son and great dane to play with. We found some brazilian mastiffs and started to research. First video we came to was a yellow brazilian that looked identical to Budda. After learning about their traits we decided Budda was a brazilian and not a mix.

So we got our new pup at wks old. She's now goig on 8 months. Her names Kona at at 7 months she waighed 85lb. We thought Budda was hard headed but my God this one here is stuborn. Ad she loves to play rough. but thats just part of the bread. They say they are one of the best guard dogs and they need no training to be so. Which that coupled with the loyalty and gentalness that is a mastiff, she was perfect for us.

She sure does run the Dane ragged though. hahahaha.

Budda was what I would consider perfect. He had zero intrest in playing with other dogs. But he was never bothered by them. Unless of coarse they kept trying to force the issue. He's layed more than one pit on their back and would place his mouth over their throat in the blink of an eye. But never not once did he bite another dog. and it would take a alot of messing to get him to do that. But he never met a person he did'nt love. Least not when we were around. Kids, any kids, could do literally anything to him and he was cool. As hard headed as hard headed gets. We got that no chew spray when he was about 6m old. Before we could us it he ate the bottle. We have a pic somewhere of the bottle in his mouth and spray running out his jowles. He was as smart as smart comes to. He learned to open jars. Namely peanut butter.

Now Kona in alot of ways is just a black Budda. Except she needs to warm up to anything that breathes. She isa true Preso in that. She's also about 10x more hard headed. I always say I must be speaking spanish when you say words like, no, stop, get, back.... Like budda, if her eye is on the prize, you feet better be planted. The prize is almost always food. You set it down you better treat it like money in the kingdom of thieves. Almost NO is all you need. But food, if thei within 6in, NO is no longer english. hahahaha. We took her camping in Tn with about 20 friends, All with loud mini buggies. She would'nt leave the trailer for the first day. By the 3rd day no one in our group was off limits. But yet anyone I did'nt visit, she stayed away

Sorry so long winded but my dogs are my friends for sure

Okay, I'm confused. Do you have a Presa or a Fila(Brazilian Mastiff). If you have a true fila, you need to start being careful. She should be coming into her temperament soon. At this point, people should not be able to walk up to her or into her house.

Fila yes. I aint sure why I said presa. She is very much in her temperment. She does not like strange anything. But we socialize her ALOT and she is learning that everything is not a threat. But she does'nt care to mess with you, just tolerates you. From my research It seems that after 7m anything thing new may very well never be accepted but can be taught to toleate. So we have taken care to bring her around anyone in our family including a few dogs. So she knows who she played with and who she did'nt. Outside of that handfull, I could care less. She's not here to be friendly to them. She's muzzled anytime she will be around strange animals in a way I cant avoid like the vet. I also keep my hand on the harness and a leash in the other. Fail safes to my fail safe. I'm fairly certain budda had another bread or was an odd ball. He tolerated animals but did'nt like them. But loved people as long as we were there. But we have a 2.5yr old son now. Kona was purchased for 2 purposes. One, very loyal and loving side to family. and two would be instinct to kill anyone who tries to harm that family. I hope she never needs to use it, but if you break in and try to kidnap my son or rob my house, her job is clear to me, her, and her target. I can assure you, is not and ill not be a social butterfly. But I will do my best to teach her that she can walk through life not assuming everything is a threat

Post them up. What breed is Delilah? Bloodhound, English Mastiff, and Bulldog is what these animals were bread from back in like the 15th cent. And it's funny cause when you see her from the right angle, she looks alot like a bloodhound. Eyes droop real heavy so you see the red around thm. They have also have a bloodhound mug which is long. Gives them a real goofy look. HAHAHAHAHA. Not funny looking dog goofy. But a "which way did he go george, which way did he go?" kinda look. They are also one of the more agile mastiffs and from my reading are considered cat like in their movement. I wont say I ever thought CAT. But this dog can go from a full run, jump up and land right in the hole. Or on top of a coffee table or ven over the table and into a hole between me and the wife. They arevery much a diffrent breed.

the fawn one has a red tint you can't see in picture and his black is like it is airbrushed on his face...he is really good looking but has really strong ojeriza that makes him a handful.

He is perfect looking in that pic to me. Were hoping to have Kona be a bit tammer long as no one gets to close. But if she dislikes everyone, thats fine to. Keeping her away from people aint all that hard most times.
