Ok, that actually makes more sense, given the tight controlls the AM breeders try to keep on AMs falling into the hands of bybs.

The one thing that disturbs me (as there cannot be THAT many Mastiff/Sharpei crosses in Texas),is that a Mastiff/Sharpei mom and one puppy were rescued from a Texas pound not very long ago.

Never the less, whatever her history, she is a CUTE puppy!!! And whatever, she is part mastiff, so stick with us :)

No matter what breed or mixed breed the OPs dog is, she is VERY welcome on the American Mastiff Family Forum, where there's LOTS of info for large and giant breed dogs.

She had a litter of puppies with her, so I know she didn't come from the pound. I got my pick of the litter :)

Shelly is gentle and loving, unless my GSD won't know when to stop playing. Then she thinks she's a big tough dog lol.

Lol, my EM Boris was like that as a puppy with our IWH -- although Ike the wolfie, being a bit elderly wasn't that difficult to disuade. They are best of pals, now. Please keep posting pics as she grows!

Also, as Michelle says, the American Mastiff Family Forum American Mastiff Family Forum - Index is an excellent resource, whether yours turns out to be partly AM or not. Michelle runs the forum, so her invitation is genuine.

The concern I expressed is that I know the AM breeders work very hard to make sure AMs don't fall into the wrong hands -- but it was more the situation I was worried about. I can say from first hand experience that they have a warm and respectful culture and welcomed me (an EM owner) gladly.
