  • Welcome back!

We decided to spruce things up and fix some things under the hood. If you notice any issues, feel free to contact us as we're sure there are a few things here or there that we might have missed in our upgrade.

Adopting a Two year old

hahahahahaha It takes all of us some time to get used to the drool. I find drool on my walls, ceilings, clothes, refrigerator, stove, let's just say just about everywhere. Comes with owning a mastiff. :)

Thank you again for giving Hector and loving and caring home!

Thank you for all the suggestions . I have to take him to the vet this weekend for a check up . The previous owners kept entirely on dog food . I have started feeding him peas potatoes and beef liver .

Need to go shopping for a nice collar , leash and hair brush for him .

Are you planning to feed him raw diet or feed him dog food with vegetables? Be aware that too much liver will cause diarrhea. Organ meats should be introduced slowly. Be aware that potatoes may give him yeast infections in the ears and his body.

Try carrots and green beans as an addition, as well as plain yogurt, extra virgin olive oil or organic, unrefined coconut oil.

I dont intend on feeding him anthing Raw as I cannot trust the meet that we get in India . I just gave him few pieces of Liver .

He has adapated well to us and is so playful . He forgets that he is a big hulk and tried to sit on our lap and chew my foot . I have a few questions .

1. Dont bullmastiff every guard or bark at strangers ?
Hector is so quiet he just sleeps even when someone walks in and we live in a big independant house with a compund wall . I would want him to atleast check the gate to see who is coming . But he just sleeps through like nothings happening .

2. Is it ok if he is kenneled for an hour or two everyday as thats when the Maid comes in to do the dishes and clean the place . And she isnt too comfortable with a huge dog around her . IMG_20140323_164210.jpgIMG_20140323_164309.jpgIMG_20140323_181249.jpgIMG_20140325_124108.jpg

Hector looks good! Yes, it is ok to put him in the crate for an hour or two. Make sure you have something you've worn, like an old shirt, to put in the crate with him. Also put one of his favorite toys in the crate with him.

Hector is still in the adjustment stage in your home. Give him time so that he knows that his is his home now. Once he realizes that and feels there is a threat, he will let you know.

Patience is necessary for a rehomed dog.

Bullmastiffs are quiet in nature and don't bark unless they get really worked up. My bully Vegas was extremely quiet throughout his whole life. That being said some dogs are different.

Your new boy looks really handsome and healthy btw. Keep him that size, some people have a tendency to like bullies bulky. Much better on their joints to be lean.

Each BM is different. For instance, I take issue with anyone who says BM are "quiet" :). Come to my house and listen to the bark! Odds are he will adapt to consider your home "his" and he will become more watchful/guardian like...

its been almost eight months . Wow I am just bowled by hector . He is just amazing with everyone in my family and he is so gentle with my one year old . He was on kibbles when adopted him but now he is on home cooked food of rice , chicken gizzer or chicken feet , olive oil and lentils and its working out good . His coat looks healthier and he is very active compared to how he was Here are some pics and BTW i have adopted a 8 month old basset as well ..1507577_10202849114895038_294763155854876438_n.jpg1531648_10202849114615031_2505414796180057429_n.jpg10390912_10202849115535054_517647236100731221_n.jpg10408674_10202849114015016_3454210091033497240_n.jpghector jinx.jpg

Thanks he is a great boy . That's my.niece and I have a one year old son . Contrary to what I have been hearing about bullmastiffs he doesnt drool or shed much and no.big dog smell . He loves the outdoors than indoors like to.sleep in the yard .
