He's only had 3 sets? He still has 1 distemper set and then his final? I will try to call the vet tomorrow for a visit, they are closed right now...

I would recommend calling as soon as they open especially if he does not eat or drink tonight and continues to have diarrhea.

Please keep me posted on Abel. Poor little guy...

I woke up at 2:30am to let him out, peed and a long poop try. This was the last of his diarrhea. It is now 6am took him out, just pee, came in and went right to the food bowl, he isn't acting sick anymore, more energetic than yesterday. He may be ok...

I would not let him eat his regular dog food just yet. He may throw up again. Do you have some hamburger or chicken to boil and some rice to feed him?

Good to hear he is ok this morning. A BIG phew!

I haven't fed him anything but kibble yet, I plan on doing a raw diet when I have a set scheduled diet for him. I never thought I'd say this, but I'm extremely happy that he is acting bad again! Last night he was very timid and went out to poop, came in and laid down, wouldn't move unless I moved to a different room. I was afraid he got parvo, I may still bring him to the vet later tonight, his puppy class starts tomorrow, I have to give him his heart worm and flea/tick medication today. Will keep you guys updated!

When a pup throws up for about a day, it helps the digestive system if you feed them boiled hamburger or chicken with rice to reset the system. Hopefully he'll keep the kibble down.

I would maybe wait on the meds until you see how he does today.

Keep us updated.

I'll try boiling some hamburgers for him for lunch. It won't make him start begging for meat would it? Or make him not eat his kibble? I heard about some of these problems arising, although a lot of what I heard are mainly myths. I'm also used to training hard dogs, like pitbulls and such, I haven't hit Abel, but he is still very scared when I say no and go to fix his collar, almost like he's going to attack me out of fear. He does bite me during this but nothing hard enough for me to consider this dangerous, as he grows though this may become a problem. I pet him a lot, but sometimes something snaps in him where he wants to defend himself? Also he snaps into attack mode when he gets too excited, does not stop snapping or biting. Is this normal?

It shouldn't cause him to stop eating his kibble. There a number of members who feed kibble and have to reset their pup's digestive system using the boiled meat/rice method. If you're fearful of him not eating his kibble, then add some low fat/plain yogurt and probiotic to his kibble. Yogurt/probiotic can calm the stomach.

Regarding his biting you when you put your hand near his face, he is playing. When he starts to bite, give him a firm "no no no." The frozen wash cloths, nylabone, kongs with treats will help with the biting but not stop it. Puppies play by biting because that's how they played with their siblings.

Thanks again musicdeb, also he totally pooped in his crate last night, possibly even twice, I had 2 towels in there as I didn't buy him a bed pad for the crate yet. Trainer told me to do this cause he would just chew up any bedding I put in there. I checked them this morning, he had one pushed into the other section, which had less poop than the one he had rolled up in the corner. I felt bad he had to sleep with it, but I didn't hear him cry, and I let him out at 2:30, which he normally just sleeps until 5-6 to go out. Is this going to be a 1 time incident since he was sick or will this promote him I pottying in the crate? Haha

I took the 2 towels out and rinsed them in the driveway, I will throw them in the laundry later today, I threw one of his smaller beds that fit perfectly into the space of his crate. It's a stuffed soft bed so hopefully I don't go home to a huge fluffy mess.

What part of Jersey are you located? I live in PA not too far from NJ and took my dog to 2 different trainers. The first one was good and definitely helped us get Juno started. The second trainer was amazing and we learned a lot and I would highly recommend. She (the trainer) was originally from Bucks county PA and now lives just over the bridge in Jersey. I would recommend plenty of socialization in a relatively controlled environment. I could be wrong but I think that if a puppy is removed from its litter mates too early it can affect their socialization skills. Also a lot of handling, ears, toes, around the collar etc.

Haha yes they do look very similar. I live in Morristown, nj. My godmother lives in roseto, pa right next to Bangor. Kinda close to stroudsburg. I'm looking for someone maybe 20 min or closer, last time I brought Abel on a 45 min trip he threw up twice but he's still willing to jump right into the car...

Brought him out at 12:30pm since 9am, he held everything in and produced somewhat solid poop. Fed him and he drank a lot of water. He's back in crate now until 3:45-4:30 depending on traffic. Hopefully he does well :)

Good job, Abel holding it for 3 1/2 hrs! Accidents in the crate should not promote continuous potty in the crate as long as you continue to take him potty every 2-3 hours. Sounds like he's going to be aok. I would still watch his kibble intake until his stomach is 100%

I find that teaching a pup to go potty after they eat is good training (about 20-30 minutes after eating). They will associate eating with potty time and somewhat gets them on a schedule to potty.

I'm glad to hear that Abel is doing better. I ran across this post several days ago and was showing my wife and kids the pics because Abel looks so much like my Cisco (but Cisco has pitbull in his blood too).

Cisco at 6 weeks.

For the most part Abel goes potty when told, sometimes he only poops every other meal. He also waits like an hour after meals, if I bring him out any earlier I would just have to go back in a wait. He still doesn't have a definite way of alerting me that he needs to go out. Sometimes he goes in between my legs with his tail between his legs and follows every step I make, sometimes he'll sit by the door, sometimes he just starts going. Is there a way to train him to cry by the door? Haha

Cisco is adorable, how old is he now?

Yes, you can try them to tell you they need to go potty. Some place a bell on the door and train them to ring the bell. Some teach their pups to bark sitting by the door. Some just know the cues, like pacing around the room or sitting at the door. Titan either paces or just sits by the door. Titan is fed raw so he generally pottys once in the morning and once at night, but he's an older pup than Cisco.
