A little video from practice today, advice and opinions welcome :)

I screwed up the cross and command coming off the bridge into the tunnel, but he still got it :) And our weaves need work but I am happy with our progression :) We are having fun. This was towards the end of our practice today so he is slowing down a little but would love opinions/advice from others. Is not the best quality taken from my iphone :D

He was blazing through that starting track of hurdles/obstacle:).......luv to see well put together Corsi fluidly run and jump like that...... graceful and powerful.

That see-saw slamming down on the other side was LOUD!......know it probably took some dogs there time to get over that noise:eek:

How did you first start training the weaves? did you use weave-guide poles? ever use "two pole" weave training?

Whats the future plan for agility? competition? title(s)?

TFS the vid!

Thanks, I am actually having to work on slowing him down for the teeter and other contact equipment, get the bottoms down then we will get the speed back up :) For the teeter he has always been pretty good, and yes he is just shy of 140lbs (137.8) so when he hits it it bangs down. It doesn't phase him, nothing really on the course phases him. With the weaves I was taught to lure him, I am looking at the 2 pole training now as it is tough. He ends up in 3 poles at a time, so that is our biggest obstacle at this point, that and my crosses ;) . I need to get our practicing back up to a few times a week getting to the barn, rather then the just class once a week that it has been for a while. We started training last Feb so I am hoping to have him (really is me lol) ready for our first competition this spring and we will go from there. I do plan on titling and we will be doing AAC, CKC, NADAC and heading to the States at some point to do his AKC trials.

That so makes me want a Corso, great job. He's a stunner!

Thank you, we are really enjoying it. CR we started last January, was a first for both of us. We have a weekly class but there is also a facility that we can go to here that if no class is using, it is a 5 dollar charge for the space and equipment. I try to get there at least once a week to work on some of our kinks for an hour or 2 when work and life allow :)

That is awesome Cody. I don't think Mystic would be good at agility as she is a not so graceful girl lol.

That look like so much fun! He is doing great!
Did a beginner agility class with my Newf when he was young, not exactly the "right" breed for the sport, lol ,but we had fun. Remember practicing at home with a ladder on the ground to teach him to be aware of where he put his feet.

He looks great Cody, I love how BJ moves, you would never know he is almost 140lbs. I tried a little agility with Crickett a few weeks ago, she seemed to like it. I am looking into some classes locally for her for the winter...gotta burn that energy! She loves the coursing, and we are on our way to a second title, but they don't do too much of it this time of year :(

Thank you for the compliments :) We have a long way to go but I am happy with our progress. @ Jersey girl, he is very graceful in his movement when he wants to be lmao. I would love to do Lure with him as he has crazy prey drive, but in the CKC you can't compete, or even do the ability test unless you have a sight hound :( We will be going to practices this spring to participate and who knows, when we do our next trip state side there are a few events I would love to try :)

Given it's been less than a year and he is so long compared to the gap in the weaves he's doing really well. The biggest problem I have with Jiggers is getting him to slow down enough that he can get his stride short enough to get between the poles. It's got to be harder for BJ as he is both longer and wider than Jiggers. One thing that is helping him is now that is cold out his classes have moved into a smaller indoor space. He has to control his stride length to be able to make some of the turns he needs to make. If you have the option, maybe try making obstacles closer together. I've also been told that the weave poles are the hardest obstacle for most dogs. Especially for the daredevils that love the climbing obstacles.

Oh that is a bummer! I bet he will do great though. Crickett took to it pretty much right away, she has crazy prey drive as well. Whenever we attend an event the judges from AKC always come up to use afterwards and comment on how nice it is to see a corso doing Lure Coursing. They are surprise how fast she is. I love to watch her run...she looks so happy.

All I can say is WOW! Nice job; I love to see any dog work a course, but when I see one of our beloved mastiffs, it gives me goosebumps.

thanks Ruby :) I feel the same. We have been focusing on his weaves and he is getting so much better. Hopefully this spring we can get to our first competition :) Am currently awaiting his AAC card in the mail!
