Another breed that I was impressed with: A gorgeous Beauceron (no pics.) Wow- huge, athletic dog, that was really pretty.

Also, a couple of Field Spaniels (not sure why, but I have a soft spot for Spaniels); they were adorable!

That winning Boerboel was gorgeous. And the Dane you got a photo of is a lovely harlequin.

The gentleman in the pink jacket in the background is the handler of Jefe, the youngest blue Dane ever finished. He showed today, but he's quite young and didn't place (this time out). The handler is one of the nicest people I have ever met at a dog show - he was kind, explained things to everyone who walked by and asked questions, talked to me forever about Jefe and breeding Danes... He was marvelous. I'm hoping to add a dog from his kennel to my home in the future and will be super proud to help continue on a breeding and showing program like his Just had to share how kind he was when I saw him pictured here!

Suanne, I'm so jealous! My mom's fantasy dog was the Komondor. Because of her fascination with them I've always wanted one but I'm afraid it is way to hot in Texas. Thank you for sharing your trip to Westminster.

Haha, well I am happy that I didn't crop him out of the picture. How great that you were able to speak with him, and make such a great connection.

I must admit that the mastiff group is more my "tribe" than the other breeds, and I was lucky enough to have had a few very heartfelt conversations with some of the breeder/owner/handlers this afternoon. Despite the crowds, I am always happy when I leave this event every year. Plus, being able to see some of these gorgeous dogs up close and personal makes it that much more memorable...

Robin, it is such a cool experience...the judging rings are fun to watch (if you can get a seat, or even standing space to see the action), but the benching area is my favorite place to hang out because you can interact with the dogs that you find interesting-- and find out everything you need and want to learn about them.

And yeah-- that Komondor was hot! What you don't see are the multiple fans blowing on him to keep him cool. Not sure how they would do in the Texas heat...

Nice. I considered a Komondor for my second dog but didn't think it was a great idea because of how much Jiggers loves water. I didn't want one of those that ended up loving the water too.

Funny! We had Irish setters when I was growing up and wanted Komondors.

I watched the black terrier and that whole terrier group and just thought they were all gorgeous.

I know someone who has a Beauce on another community I'm a member of. He is the cutest thing ever. Has a wonderful temperament, seems super smart... If I ever get out of the Dane world, I'll be looking into IWHs or Beaucerons, for sure.

My fathers fantasy dog was always a great dane. He would talk about getting one some day. I am sure it was the driving factor behind my own desire to have one!

Loved that BRT--- and I made the mistake of asking if it was a Bouvier (oops.) But, the BRTs are much bigger-- and this guy was huge!

Seeing pictures of these dogs never give you an idea of their size. There was a black Russian at our rally event last week; my jaw dropped when he entered the ring. WOW! It's funny how I instantly fall in love with any dog that's almost as big, or bigger than me.
