I have 2 questions about our boerboel's
A little info on my Tank he will be 11 months old on 12/8/16 I just took him to the vet to get him weighted for the right dose of heart-worm pill and he is 116.5 lbs.
So now with the questions
1. What is the normal daily calorie intake for his age and size? (i am feeding a dry food that is 386 K/Cal per 8 oz cup)
2. I have noticed with Tank that the white of his eyes aren't always pure white some time pinkish or redish is that normal? (at one point I was thinking it was pink eye but then the next day it cleared up) Some eye buggers but nothing more then usual. Could it be the begging of allergies?
If you look at the first picture the back of his right eye you can see some redish. The second picture you can see its white and thats the same day.
The next picture was last month and he was scratching his forehead and left eye.

Thanks for the help.

Hard to determine the correct amount of food, feed him according to the bag instructions and adjust if he's geting to skinny/ chubby. About the eyes, I think it is normal, I've seen mine's (not bb) get a bit red after intens activity or if he's agitated. If the redness is not permanent and there is no excessive discharge, he should be ok. you could ask your vet, when you go for shots / routine checks,

Regarding the eyes : Could it be the begining of Ectropion?

Here's a link about it, which you may find interestng.

As in regards to diet, if he's healthy and in good shape then what is the concern? Not sure I understand.

He is a handsome boy :)

My concern with the amount of food to feed him is cause I dont want him to become a grazer. Also want to break his feedings down to 3 times a day. When he was younger he would eat 3 or 4 times a day as much as I would give him. Now that he is older he started not eating his 3 times. Sometime he would only eat 2 times and some days only one time. So Im trying to get him back on 3 times a day 2 cups or so per feeding. But if he skips a feeding then I have to add that amount to his next feeding. So I just want to find out what everyone else is doing. The food I use is beaverdam skippers choice and they recommend for 100 lb dog 5 1/2 cups (8 oz cup) a day. Tank was 116.5 lbs last week so I would just like to get the calorie intake right.

As I said, the only way to determine if you feed him the correct amount is according to his body weight. Some dogs need more than the recommended amount and are naturally very slim. I have always had to underfed my pup, else he turns into a whale. One size does not fit all. If his body weight is good, it means he gets enough nutrition.
In my opinion, it's not necessary to feed him three times a day at his age, two should be enough Some even prefer a meal a day, but my dog turns into a nutcase after he eats, so I'd rather he didn't have a huge amount of food in his belly when he starts zooming by. If he's not eating everything you give him, it probably is that he's just not hungry enough.

Could he be sick of the same food all the time? Do they really care if its the same thing every day? If so how often do you guys change names brands and the kind of ingredients in the kind of food you feed?

I dont think so but Im no expert. I had a shar pai years ago that had her top eye lids done. But with her it was just always tears running from her eyes. Tank isnt so much tears but redness in his white of his eye ball. Again it can also be just him and when he gets excited or mad or any other emotion the white in the eye ball turns pink to reddish. But I have to take him to the vet next month for his weight in so I could get the dose of heart-worm and I will make sure to have them look at his eyes.

I don't know if they care or not, there are people who have fed the same brand for years, just rotating through flavors, and their dogs have always enjoyed their food. I personally have 3-4 brands I use alternatively, i know he's going to despise whatever kibble I get him, so I mostly focus on the quality of the ingredients and I add something more palatable on top.

My little man will be 17 weeks tomorrow, so it's a different story...

That said, I have been feeding him Acana Large Breed Puppy since I got him. He has been getting 3 cups a day (1 cup breakfast, 1 cup lunch, 1 cup supper). He hoovers his food down, so there is never an issue with grazing throughout the day. He was 50lbs last Friday when he turned 16 weeks.

I supplement my dog's food with chicken, beef, vegetables, greens, cottage cheese, eggs, fish and so on.

Lately I have started to cut back on the mid day meal, as I noticed a little too much padding around the ribs. What I have done instead, is offer a raw meaty beef bone for lunch instead of the regular food, and our boy Charlie loves it.

If you're worried about grazing, does that mean that you leave the food out at all times and just fill the bowl? At your pups age I would have been feeding twice a day for quite a while. Measured portion down, allow an appropriate time for it to be eaten, then food taken up whether it's gone or not. Unless the dog is still eating. I don't take the food away unless they've walked away from it. Then they don't get the food again until the next feeding time. It's worked well for us for many years and many dogs.

As for amounts, it depends. My EM eats 1 3/4 cups of grain free food twice a day. She'd eat until she exploded if I let her and she puts on weight easily. The recommended amount for her size is between 5 3/4 - 7 3/4 cups a day. She gets 3 1/2 cups a day and can easily get pudgy if I don't make sure she gets plenty of exercise. One of my boxer boys eats the same food and has about 7 cups a day. He's skin and bones and can't break 53lbs no matter what he eats - and his blood tests say he's healthy. The other boxer boy has 1 cup dry and 1 cup wet, twice a day and his body condition is perfect. It really is different for every dog.

When Tank was that youg he ate everything in the bowl and every time I put the bowl down. He would of ate the bowl if he could...lol Its only been the last couple of months. I started him on twice a day feeding in October (I think I messed up on how many cup 8 cups for the day I dont know where I got 8 cups from) But he wasnt eating his morning feeding so with only eating 4 cups for dinner started to worry me. But now that we went back to 2 cups 3 times a day today he ate both meals and I sure he will eat dinner cause I also mix 2 teaspoons of yogurt into that feeding (for probionicis) so that one he doesnt miss..lol

No we dont leave the food out for him to keep going back but sometimes when he wont eat as soon as we put it down it might take a few mins to go check it out. and some time he will just take a couple of mouth fulls and walk away. So it turns into leaving for him for about half an hour before we pick it up. I like when we put the bowl down full and we tell him to eat and he cleans the bowl then there isnt any problems. But like you said I might do 2 feedings a day again but with 3 cups in each feeding. Last month when we changed to 2 feedings I messed up and was feeding him 4 cups 2 times a day. So I think he would eat the 4 cups at night and in the morning we would only eat a little bit and that was it until dinner. Like I said above I dont remember where I got 8 cups a day for his size. Even the bag of food says 100lbs 5 1/2 cups a day. So being 117 lbs then 6 cups would be the right amount of food for him even looking on the bag. Thats why I was asking about k/cal this way I would have an idea.
