Alexus, I have always wanted a giant breed. The two I'm now considering are a Great Dane or an Anatolian. You have both! Are the Anatolians good house dogs? As far as their protective nature, are they hard to control when they get worked up? I did want a Fila, hence my username, but decided that would be more dog than I would need. Thanks for any info you could give me!

Hello! The dogs I have are called Kangals, but some call them Anatolian Shepherds. The are huge, strong, independent guard dogs that require continual supervision. Our two are 9 months old and weigh 132 and 136. Ours are wonderful dogs and get along well with our poodles, family, friends- but they need continual training and supervision. Although my wife is very experienced, she can not handle them-they are too strong. They need a lot of room to run. We have 37 acres so they are very active. They also guard our llamas and alpacas.
Now great danes are wonderful house dogs. They are loyal and obedient and may be a better choice. They don't need as much room, and are very friendly cmpaed to the kangals.
Hope this helps. May God Bless, Alexus
